In short: A generic Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Typical stuff, decent beer.Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAY 9, 2011
How: Tap at Extreme Beer Fest 2011
The look: Black body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Another decent Barrel Aged imperial stout. Syrupy, moderately bourbonny, vanilla, black coffee, generic black cookies, some liquorice, some tar, medium roast level. This one supposedly use ginseng but I didn’t pick any, maybe faint notes of anise but that’s it. I’ve had a beer exactly like this one many many times before. Generic but still gets the job done. Just another exclusivity for the beer obsessed geeks at Extreme Beer Fest. And then I looked around and saw all those people standing in lines, all excited, wearing their brewery shirts and I said to myself “let’s never laugh at trekkies again”.
Draft at EBF. Pours a black body with a yellow off white head. Coffee and burnt malt bitterness with a hint of peppers. Ginseng and tea notes with a modest warmth and some light coffee bitterness to finish. Nice. bobbypaulson (217) - Fergus Falls, Minnesota, USA - MAY 3, 2011
had this beer at rattle n hum weyer night. This beer was so talked up about how they only made 6 kegs of this, so I had to get a taste. comes in a glass jet black with no head. Smell is good of coffee and chocolate. The taste just didn’t do it for me it was lke a flat soda. It didn’t live up to the hype. tgncc (3132) - Bellmore, New York, USA - MAY 2, 2011
The aroma is coffee, roasty, chocolate. The appearance is the standard brown/black, tan head. The flavor is licorice, coffee, chocolate. Medium/thick in body. The finish is smooth coffee, light pine. Between good and very good. I don’t know why I didn’t pick out much bourbon. blipp (9278) - La Mesa, California, USA - APR 28, 2011
Draft. Pours black with a beige head. Roasty aroma with dark fruits, coffee, and anise. The flavor has roasted malts, coffee, anise, molasses, and dark fruits. Really good.

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of EBF. Pours a big dark brown to black. Thin tan head. Chocolate, caramel, roast and vanilla. Chewy roast notes. A bit thin. Warm coffee, becoming more prominent toward the finish as it mingles with more roast notes and a subtle touch of cool mint.
