¿Queˊ Beck? is the next release of the Brewer’s Select Series. As you know, the naming system for the BSS is based on the NATO phonetic alphabet. You may not know that the TTB will not allow a brewery to name a beer the name of an existing place if the beer is not made there. So Quebec (pronounced “ka-bec” by the locals there) is out and ¿Queˊ Beck? is in. Its a nice summer refresher with a crackin’ hop character. Its 5.5% ABV and around 20 IBU. It’ll be finished with Cascade and Sorachi Ace hops which will deliver a nice citrus, lemon character.

Rated from notes taken 8 Oct 2011 -- I need to rate again, I didn’t take very good notes on this one.

Huhzubendah (3753) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Bottle shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael. The beer is a mildly hazy, light yellow color with a small head that leaves sparse lacing on the glass. The aroma is herbal and buttery, with floral and malt notes. The flavor is indistinguishable as an APA. Boiled vegetables, particularly corn. The finish is odd and unpleasant. The bottle was purchased from the brewery and consumed soon after. Avoid. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-20-2011

(Draught) Pours a clear orange body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, caramel, and nuts. Flavor of nuts, Sorachi Ace, grass, grapefruit, florals, and caramel.

Draft at Drafting Room Exton. Poured hazy gold with white head. Notes of lemony sorachi hops, pale malt, mild spice. Light palate, with relatively light hop flavor.

On draft at Brass Tap Wesley Chapel. Pours a medium yellow with a white head. Nose is lighter malts, some caramel, citrus/ lemon, and dill. Flavor is big dill with some light malt and citrus. Light to medium in body and not really my kind of pale ale.

Thanks to yourefragile for sharing this the other night. Served in a SAVOR snifter. Pours a light straw-yellow color that is mostly transparent with a thin white head and a few spots of lacing. The nose is pretty odd, leading with strange biscuity notes and a bit of old, bad grain. Faint hop character. Flavor is odd as well. Yeastiness that doesn’t really fit plus stale malt. Medium body and a bitter, oxidized finish. Overall, yuck.

From the tap poured a brown color with a fair amount of head. Nice dry hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

GuilTTy (2264) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - AUG 5, 2011
On tap at the Pourhouse. Clear pour he color of drawn butter and a thin white head. Mildly offensive phenol aroma. Very buttery, bready flavor with no citrus hoppiness. Thin mouthfeel and a weak finish. Could have been a bad batch but more likely just a bad brew.

beernovice39 (3269) - Idaho, USA - JUL 29, 2011
Draft at Engine 15.. Gold pour with an off white head. Scent is citrus and fgrass. Tastes of citrus and bready.
