Slam Dunkel was a small batch release in 2007. We had such an overwhelming response that we had to put it in the seasonal rotation. We also decided, as brewers, we couldnt live without drinking this beer every year! This 7% Double Dunkelweizen is unfiltered and made with over 50% wheat malt along with pale, munich, and a touch of chocolate to give it the traditional color and flavor. Bitterness is subdued to allow the Weihenstephen yeast to shine through with those traditional notes of banana and clove. Available in June in bottles and draft. Recipe by Chris Wilson, Head Brewer.

Bottle at home in London, thanks to Tom. Pours hazy, rich brown with a tight, fairly large, light tan head. Has a lovely wheaty, yeasty aroma with just hints of the alcohol. Flavor is very rich, medium to high sweetness, nice notes of banana and other fruits, wheat, bread, some toffee and spices. Almost harkens to mind banana bread. Full bodied with average to lively carbonation. Very mild warmth in the finish, full-flavor, some ripe fruits, yeast and wheat, banana, candy, clove. Super drinkable. An excellent example of this style.

Draught at Brickseller, Washington DC
Cloudy dark brown color, big head. The smell reminds me sewage water. It has a solid body, but again it seems that a quite good beer (sweetness, caramel, wheat...) Has been brewed with dirty water; but its a pity because the beer should not be bad. Difficult.
