Pour is a deep hazy brown with a white head. Aroma is very subtle coffee. Taste is subtle with notes of coffee and cherry. Leaves a bitter malt after taste
Boozy and bold! Delicious beer, but clearly has what I think of as Weyerbacher’s trademark alcohol burn and yeast profile. Beerdedone (3480) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Bottle. Pours ruby brown with a small tan head. Aroma of cherries, dark fruit, soft yeast and raisins. Flavor was slightly sweet with sweet malts, cherry, caramel, dark fruit, yeast and had notes of candi sugar. jsporrer (1146) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 24, 2016
Pours a hazy dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Medium carbonation with some lacing and some sediment. Aroma of yeasty bread with hints of cherry and alcohol. Fairly smooth with light tart cherry flavor. Some earthy, woody notes and a warm smooth finish. not quite what I expected but still very enjoyable. solidfunk (9734) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - AUG 26, 2016
Light raisin and florals with a little cherry. Some plum, light smoke and some oak and tobacco. Brown pour with decent initial head. Light sweet finish with some tang. Bottle from Whole Foods. jgb9348 (6588) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JUN 8, 2016
Deep dark brown coloured body with a muddied brown and copper body showing tints of ruby, violet and even sienna with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of cherries, oak, malt, grass, hay, yeast, alcohol and a bit of coriander seed, as well. Medium-bodied; Strong yeast and malt flavours with some cherry notes, dry oak, vanilla and even a bit of mushrooms and a good deal of must/basementy flavours. Aftertaste shows a great complexity of yeast strain, malt and dark cherry flavours that merge very nicely, without any tartness at all. A lot of residual sugars are noticeable from the fruit with a good malt and yeast characteristic that finishes complex. Overall, a nice kriek without the tartness that you’d expect from seeing the cherries on front, but pretty much what you’d find for the style in the motherland of Belgium. One of my favourite all time beers is the Riserva and somehow I went out of whack by having D’Tango Unchained BEFORE this one, and while I love both of those beers, this is simply a ’classic’ and very good...but not at the level of the formers. A nice beer for #5500 and one that I should keep a single bottle in a cellar for several years to see how the flavours and yeast develops. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 28-January-2016 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington on 07-June-2016 for my fifty-five hundredth rating of all time.

Pours a hazy copper brown from the bomber with thin ring of bubbly tan head. Aroma and taste of dark fruits and Belgian candi sugar. Booze is present but not overwhelming, not bad, but nothing too exciting. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 26, 2016
Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, spice, and some woody notes. Flavors of dark sweet malt, and hints of cherries. N3lson1 (1010) - Long Valley, New Jersey, USA - APR 18, 2016
Drank from a pint glass, poured from a 750 mL bottle. Pours a beautiful deep, dark copper color, with plenty of frothy head! Amazing aromas of cherries and malt! The taste is strong in sweet malts, a slight sour/tart taste from the cherries, but a good Belgian nonetheless. hman43 (1898) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - APR 15, 2016
It pours brown with a light tan head. It has aromas of caramel and chocolate malts with some yeast and bready notes. It has malty flavors from the caramel and bready notes with yeast and cherries. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 8, 2016
bottle. Brown with small head. Sweet caramel and chocolate malts. Boozy with cherry fruitness. I expected more tartness from the cherries. Just sweet and boozy. I don’t know if this needed more time to age. Too many rough edges at the moment.
