(22oz bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, herbs, maple, cherry, and raisins. Flavor of cherry, raisins, plum, toffee, and caramel.
Bottle shared by RussianDragon. Turn back the clock.
The beer is copper orange with a small off-white head. Light haze. Aromas include apples, brown sugar, yeast, oranges, butterscotch. Sweet and syrupy with prominent honey character. Thick on the palate with low carbonation. Alcohol presence is tamed by time but the beer is still a bit of a chore. Best shared many ways. RussianDragon (578) - - JUN 10, 2014

Been a minute. Remember an Earthier malt bomb that was thick. Low carbonation. Sweet but dirty hoppy finish. Confused BW. valpoaj (742) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Obviously well aged bottle at this point - murky brown, thought not totally opaque pour with the thinnest of off-white heads that leaves a lasting ring at the edges of the glass. Aroma is malt, honey, brown sugar, hint of booze - somewhat faint...very sweet! Flavor is quite good - lots of honey, some sweet malt, lightly hopped, some booze at the end. Very little hint of the rye remaining, which is disappointing, but perusing some earlier reviews, I think this may have benefited nicely from the age. Palate is moderately thick, oily, light carbonation, slight burn on finish. Not a half bad beer...definitely better than the ratings had me expecting before open.

Aged 5+ years. I enjoyed this quite a bit, the beer was well integrated with a faint cherry sourness offsetting the thick, somewhat spicy brew. Nice warm finish. travita (4993) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 9, 2013

2007 vintage enjoyed October 2, 2012. Carbonation kept over 5 years quite well and very smooth for a barleywine. Bit on the vinous side. Very nice beer which aged very well.
