nimbleprop (9146) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 10, 201812oz bottle to go from Cafe Abseits. Pours an opaque brown/black with some thin, khaki head. Wonderful nose, very true, malt, roast, toast, bread, light smoke, toffee chews, tootsie roll. Flavor is chewy with malts and grains and bread and toffee, there's a vinous character, raisinettes, chocolate, some mocha too. Finishes dry, full bodied, envelopes the mouth. Delicious.

[email protected] Abseits, Bamberg. Spicy, cinnamon-like Süßholz/liquorice is all over this brownish Dunkel/porter crossover, but in a tasty way, well tied in. Bit like a Glühwein&Rooibos-infused porterised Dunkel, never fuming with abv, quite smooth considering its earthy sweetness. - Having just been to one of Bamberg’s Süßholz butcher’s that same day to sample the unusual liquorice-smoked ham and sausage, I quite had my fill of this local delicacy and would rather settle for beechwood-smoked Schlenkerla any time.
