12 oz. bottle, $1.50 loose at HyVee, Storm Lake, IA. No expiry code. Twist-off cap. Poured in my Sam Adams glass, there’s a slightly cloudy brown beer under a thin head. Some sediment left in the bottle. This has gotten old, I think, probably why it sat in the loose rack. Oxidized, slightly phenolic smell that I can’t count against an undated bottle. At least that means there’s malt in here, and that’s plain with the taste. It’s malty sweet, but a bit medicinal. Hops have dwindled away. Hate to knock a beer for being past its prime, but I can’t rate based on what I think it would taste like. Clearly a chance for a nice, malty English beer that is, it seems, not easy to find where I am. gururyan (727) - Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA - SEP 25, 2010
Moderately bitter, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, sour finish that was unfortunately long. Avoid. Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2010
Dark hazy amber brown with a lacing beige head. Aroma of mild floral hops, fruit and toffee. Taste is a little too sweet. No bitterness whatsoever, just a fruity floral hoppiness. I know it’s not supposed to be very bitter but come on this is just weak. Medium body, medium carbonation. jsj2210 (1) - Georgia, USA - OCT 3, 2009 does not count
a little cloudy but the mediocre reviews this beer has received is because of inconsistent preferences of the individuals who have rated it. A superior taste that has good balance between flavor, bitterness and aroma. Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - SEP 16, 2009
Bought from the World Market in Arlington Highlands. Sweet and roasted with a dry, hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper amber with a medium creamy off white head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a spicy fruit aroma with caramel and light bready malt. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter malt with caramel and a nice sugary finish. A good ESB from Boston Beer. markas101 (2466) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - AUG 31, 2009
33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Deep amber colour, clingy tight foam head. Balanced hop/malt, with some sweet citrus lurking in the background. Challenging flavor, first sip is slightly sour, then changing to sweet bitter molasses. Finish is autumnal and earthy, prunes mostly. drowland (8827) - Georgia, USA - AUG 20, 2009
Great lacing. Aroma is sweet and slightly malty with a hint of roast. The flavor lingers on the side/back of the tongue as a slightly astringent hop/roasty malt bitterness with a hint of minerals. JediMindTricks (446) - Remington, Virginia, USA - AUG 19, 2009
Overall a very good beer. Appearance is light brown with a lacey head. Mouthfeel is smooth. Brew is pretty malty but overall has a very nice flavor and is a very drinkable beer. RONCOD (247) - Uledi, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 16, 2009
Hazy brown color with a fluffy tan head. I could detect some caramel aroma with some sweet tea in the background. Kind of a sweet citrus taste. I like this.
