4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Im confused as to why this didn’t get higher ratings. I was blown away by this beer. I thought the sour and flavor balance was perfect. Wool hunt foyer this beer the rest of my life.
Super hazy golden and peach coloured body with absolutely no head at all. Aroma of pale malt, a bit of lemons and citrus, some milder yeast notes and finishes with a bit of funk and some alcohol notes. Light-bodied; Some sour flavours at first that die down immediately and show some funk, grain, alcohol, astringent notes and wheat that isn't incredibly easy to get down nor even close to what this style shoudl be. Aftertaste shows some of the very mild citrus, grain, funk and sour notes, but not much else and quite strong for the style with the astringent and pungent notes abound. Overall, a barely decent beer that isn't a real Berliner Weisse and doesn't show much enjoyable at all, aside from some light sour and mellow notes right in the middle. Not really worth trying to find/buy, unless you can drive it home, then its still only useful as a resource. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Ted's Package Store in Charlton, Massachusetts on 28-July-2016 for US$1,52 with perhaps one of my last beers from the store/purchase, sampled at home in Washington on 06-November-2017. A solid American twist on the Berliner Weiss hits the spot despite this being fairly pedestrian in comparison to other beers I tried on vacation. While drinkable nothing about it stood out. I'd try a few more White Birch beers for frame of reference but with lower expectations.
Aroma / Appearance - The transparent golden body melts away like the last rays of sunshine on a lazy afternoon. Lively carbonation powers upwards. Heavily salted lemons, dry notes, and a vinegary undertone scour the air with a focus.
Flavor / Palate - Salted lemonade wets the palate. The refreshing and crisp notes that follow add little depth though it is consistent from first sip to final pour. Nothing overly memorable stands out in the finish. Overall though it did the job. If you're looking for a safe regional this will do nicely.
UPDATED: APR 11, 2017 can. pours clear bright gold with a small white cap offering minimal retention and lacing. golden tartish wheat, bland herbal notes, medium acidity - sharp lemon yogurt, faint fruitiness - some white grapes - some edible sultanas, lots of minerals. moderate carbonation, light body - watery; dry and firmly tart citrusy-herbal finish. decent berliner with a strong lactic character. o-k. badgerben (5353) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - FEB 5, 2017
Can. Murky orange color with a fast falling large head. Light aroma of lemon. Flavor of a grain silo and tart lemon. A bit on the sour side. Thin bodied. 17Beer (426) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 25, 2016
Scents of peach and apricots. Ours golden with thin white head that dissipates quickly. Super sour, a little barnyard but short and crisp flavors. Refreshing with low carbonation and an abrupt finish. Could be a great summer cooler. Should become a popular style as an alternative to classic wheats.

Poured from 12oz can apricot in color foamy head for about 10 seconds then gone no lacing, lightly carbonated tart lemon flavor that is better than its slightly soapy aroma led me to believe it was going to be. blutt59 (6585) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 11, 2016

Yellow can from Whole Foods PM. Pours cloudy gold with minimal head. Nose is honey, pale malt, caramel popcorn. Tastes tart, fruity, with peachy notes, lighter on the palate, vinegary tart finish. jackl (8453) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 16, 2016
Cask @ GBBF 2014. Hazy, soupy deep gold pour with a small head. Nose is pretty damn cheesy. Molding cheesecake. Sour cream. Some unwashed sock and stewed vegetable. Unpleasant aroma. Flavor is dominated by rotting apples - curdling cider and cheese. Champagne vinegar. Sort of harsh. Light body, soft carb. This hasn’t traveled well.
