22oz bottle. White Birch, what are you doing? Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma of sourness, earthy/basement notes. Flavor has Belgian sweetness characteristics that are out of place with the sourness, plus there is something on the finish that is just not good. Weird texture. This brewery makes some good beers, but I don’t know what happened with this one. rodisian (66) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 26, 2012
This was my first sour beer and I assumed sour beers were not for me, but I’m glad to see the other reviews.. maybe not all is lost. This has a decent tartness/sourness up front, but it goes downhill from there. All I can remember is the aftertaste: it’s as if I just vomited. No joke.

Of the few sour ales I’ve had, this is the most unpleasant. Aroma is tart, some malt, mostly just tart. Mostly sour and malty taste with hints of cheese and sour puke. A tad disturbing to the palate. Mouthfeel isn’t pleasant, kind of oily, filmy. Finish is puke, straight up. Really tried hard to appreciate this beer but cant find a single thing that will convince me to finish it. Really sad because I’d really like to support a local brewery but so far not so good with White Birch :( Jblauvs (1358) - Chester, Vermont, USA - NOV 9, 2012
Brown pour with a thin offwhite had that disappears quickly. Aroma is a mixture of earthy sour funk, an odd briney garbage aroma, and sweet caramel malt. Oily mouthfeel, flavors continue to confuse - metallic, sour, salty, a bit of fishiness, finishes sweet and sticky. Lots of frankly revolting things going on here. Quite awful. johnnnniee (4405) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 17, 2012
Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a smallish head that dissipates almost instantly like diet soda poured over ice. The aroma is controlled by a parmesan cheesy scent that stomps everything else that tries to enter my nostrils. Some funk and dark pitted fruit drizzled in brown sugar round out the nose. The flavor is quite funky with again a cheesy taste that distracts rather than complements this brew. Light fruity tartness and a hint of caramel round out the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a tart bubbly mouthfeel. This beer was really at odds with my meager palette, I could not enjoy this beer and it’s cheesy funk.

Pours a slightly bubbly brown color with glimmers of ruby on the edges... a finger or so of eggshell foam that settles out fairly quickly. Aromas hmmm all I can smell is fish emulsion and rubbish... its not strong but its not good in any sense. Off notes coming through heavily on the nose and follow suit on the palate. Very deep earthy composted flavors that are more than a tad off to me... fishy, touches of soy sauce, wood and balsamic... a real miss. Maybe it was an off bottle ? Certainly wont buy more to try. Sorry
