Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is slight coffee. Flavor is sweet major with a little bit of coffee bitterness. Body could be a bit fuller.
Bottle at trailer. Black body with tan foam. Mineral, dark roast, kelpie, black licorice aromas. Smooth medium body. Dry chocolate, smoky ash tray, mineral, roasty flavors----good. chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - NOV 13, 2014
22 oz "Winter 2013" bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet.
Pours essentially black with a small tan head that somehow manages to maintain some presence for a long while.
Rich and relatively complex aroma. Notably better than the (good) flavor.
Flavor: lots of dark roasted grains with near minimal burnt or char but with some near-burnt toast flavor. Multigrain elements, particularly oats, are evident and contribute to the fullness of the feel. Light, soft, appropriate carbonation. Cybercat (6046) - Georgia, USA - OCT 21, 2014
Pours a rich coffee sable with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma has strong notes of roast malt, coffee, and molasses, plus nutty and earthy hints. Scrumptious flavor has all of the above plus hints of semi-sweet chocolate and fruit. Fairly thick texture has little fizz, but leaves a satisfying roast malt, coffee and nutty finish. A dry, dirty, heavily roasted stout. Precisely what I look for in an export. Boozy with hints of vanilla. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAR 27, 2014
Rcvd in trade.
The appearance had a dark brown close to black colored body with a thin less than a quarter fingered off white to tan foamy head that died within less than about twenty seconds. lacing tried to cling but slid into the body fairly quickly.
The smell had a large amount of chocolate booziness with some light vanilla.
The taste was sweet through the combination of chocolate and vanilla more so the chocolate, and pretty well combined in the taste and somewhat heavily dosed with the alcohol; sticky sweet chocolatey aftertaste and finish.
The palate sat about a medium on the body, and shows a decent sipping aspect to it. Carbonation was very subdued and was good for the style and for me.
Overall, this was a pretty good milk/sweet stout that I wouldn’t mind having again. commonmac (1314) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Bottle purchased by foreign stout enabler. Black with tan head. Aroma has some chocolate and coffee. Crisp comes to mind initially but the taste comes through and acts as a but of a letdown. Coffee bitter taste overwhelms. Maybe over-roasted if that’s possible. Chocolate a little at the end. It’s an OK option but just not my wheelhouse when it comes to style. commonshawn (1311) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Big bottle. Black with tan head. Roasted caramel and toffee aroma with maltiness. Bread , roasted, slight bitterness. Definitely a stout, with coffee bitterness that doesn’t last long. Soft finish. drowland (8955) - Georgia, USA - MAR 22, 2014
3/22/14. 22oz bottle at Bleu Cafe. Black pour with a short lived tan head that sizzles away to nothing fast. Roasted and chocolate malt aroma, reminds me of a tootsie roll, a touch creamy. Sweet chocolate and cream hits my tongue straight away followed by a bit of roast, ash, and day old cold coffee. A touch of fruitiness. Not awful.
