Pours deep brownish black with a small, creamy film head. Aroma is powerful, lots of dark chocolate, some coffee, light black currants and well roasted. Low carbonation, very pleasant and smooth mouthfeel. Sweet at first, then some hard roasted malts, lots of dark chocolate and some light dry coffee. Super, lingering roasted dryness in the finish. Very nice.
Bottle at the brewery courtesy of Steve, shared with SHIG. Dark ruby brown color, big tan head, great lacing. Aroma of subtle cocoa, coffee, vanilla. Taste has chocolate, cocoa, vanilla with a smoke edge and medium body. Good character and complexity. Very drinkable. Dorqui (2261) - Brescia, ITALY - APR 27, 2008

Intense black and much impenetrable color with creamy and adherent head. Alcoholicy and braced scent of wood, cask, burnt malt, ash. Much solid taste, dry ground, with notes of liqueur, bitter cacao and with decided alcoholic impact. Optimal persistence and resistance in the nose.
50 cl bottle. Impenetrable jet black color, with a compact, creamy, tan head (not a lot but very attractive). Quite strong bitter chocolate and coffee aroma, with a trail of alcohol and a roasted malt background. The aroma is nicely persistent and matches very well with the toasted and malty bitterness which dominate the taste. Hint of liquorice and lightly carbonated. Alcoholic warmth in the end. Medium-full body.
Well balaced, wonderful exemple of the style.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2008 On tap at Bibo, Bologna.
Very dark ale.
Coffe, liquorice. Smooth, rich, grainy.
Fennel and liquorice lingering, but it is fairly dry. This is a very good beer. Not an Imperial stout, but a very respectable quaffing porter. Not too heavy, not too thin. skortila (5985) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 31, 2009
Tap @ København Ølfestival 2009. Aroma is quite good with roasted malts, black currant, some coffee and chocolate. Black coloured beer wa small head. Bottle thanks to the brewer Steve: Poured a reddish brown with a huge tan color head that left nice lace around the glass. Aroma was thick of chocolate, licorice, and roasted malt. Taste was soft coffee, roasted malt, bakers chocolate, and spice. MiP (15972) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - OCT 4, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 20, 2009 Bottle, 6.5%. Creamy, slightly coffeeish aroma. Almost black colour, seems unclear. The flavour is nicely sweet, good creamy notes, slightly roasted. The aftertaste has a faint hint of coffee. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Prickly carbonation. 7 3 7 3 17
