Can from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a nice fluffy head. Nose - nuts, earthy and lightly spiced. Taste - more nuts, earth and spice. A hint of redcurrants. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good.

Keg halfpint at Graingers, Dublin. Slightly hazy amber colour, white (or slightly off-white) head. Moderate fruity aroma, notes of berries. The flavour is sweeter than expected, some malts (including some mild roasty ones), hops and woody notes, but not perfectly balanced.

Bottle from carry out Gorey. Pours red with white head. Dusty hop nose. Sweet grain malts with mild bitter finish. Some earthy wood notes. Might not have been stored in best conditions.

Bottle. Pours a dark murky red with a mostly lasting thin light beige head. Aroma is of pine, caramel, grassy, biscuit, caramel, red fruits. Taste is of caramel, pine, blood orange, bitter finish. Watery to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation.

On draft at Irish Beer + Whiskey Village, RDS, Dublin Clingy high-pouring tan over hazy cherry amber. 4 Resin, orange rind, and raspberry. 3.75 Strawberry, touch of toffee, some melon, lime and leaf hops with papaya and some pine bark. 3.75 Medium, clingy, oil and salty. 4 Run through a Mosaic hop rocket at serving. Like a deeper and less flashy 5AM Saint - fruit + citrus. But not the bang I’d expect for a Randall. Easy and nuanced, but Red IPAs seem to deliver less hops than Ambers - how does that work? 3.75

GenkiGonzo (1096) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 23, 2016
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2016 Draught at Bierhaus Cork. Ruddy copper pour with an off-white head. Citrus hop aroma. Slightly sweet malt flavour but a nice fresh bitter finish.
