Cask at Assembly House, London. Pours clear brown with a light, tan cream head. Nose holds dirt and cocoa, some burnt leaves. Light sweet flavor, some bitter, charred malts, leafy bitterness, baking cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Earthy bitterness to finish with further notes of dirty cocoa. Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Copper, red with a cream foam. Aromas are chocolate, raisins and cola with burnt toffee. Plummy with medicinal notes and spices. Cask @ JDW, Victoria Station. The pour’s deep amber brown with a tiny off-white head. The nose is roasted grain, chocolate malts, some coffee. The taste is sweet coffee creamer, some butter, more chocolate and roasted wood. Toffee, mild berry on the finish. The body’s a bit thin and watery. Ascot Beer Festival 2012. Pours a dark brown colour with a white head, plenty of fruit and malt in the aroma, taste is bitter and malty with a dry bitter finish.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer Fest ’12. Chestnut with cream head. Fruity, malty beer with a dryish toffee character, some nuttiness, some plum pudding. Fairly decent.
