33 cl bottle at home. Appearance: orange-brown with medium tan head and a massive load of brown yeast. The yeast looks like river sedimentation. Aroma: brown sugar, bread, sirup and metal. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Brown sugar, banana, bread and metal again in the taste. Finish is a little hoppy and warming. Palate: medium bodied, sticky texture and medium carbonation. I think there was something wrong with this bottle, because it didn’t feel, taste and smell like an ordinary barley wine. I’ll have to try this one again sometime.

33cl bottle at home. Pours a clear ruby brown colour with a decent creamy off-white head. Aroma of liquorice, caramel, alcohol, plums, raisins, dark malts, cacao, slight spicy, vanilla. Taste is medium sweet, soft bitter with a warming boozy finish. Notes of liquorice, dark fruits, dates, spices, slight hoppy, raisins, alcohol. Texture is creamy, full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottled Jan 2015. Deep ruby red with reasonably small creamy yellow-beige persistent head, initial fizzing similar to soft drink. Rich toffee malt aroma, with raisins, plums, a little sherry and some butteriness. The taste has a rich caramel maltiness, hazelnut, some diacetyl, almost cola-like notes, vegetal hop bitterness. Lingering sweet finish. Big richness but no noticeable alcohol flavour. Full bodied, lightly prickly carbonation helps counteract some of the big sweetness. Pretty good but would benefit from aging to round off some of the harsher edges.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 2019/01/15 Deep ruby-bronze body, holds a small dense off-white head. Malt nose - browned caramel, date, sultana, vanilla, sweet cookies, touch of spice. Body rich, unctuous, sticky, smooth subdued carbonation, long finish. Thick caramel, biscuity, toasty, nutty, dried fruits, Christmas pudding, long lingering finish. Lovely beer!

33cl bottle at home. Hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. Full body with low to moderate carbonation. Nice bitterness with fruity sweetness. Raisin, malts, caramel, booze, ripe fruits, yeast and spices. Good.

Most like a Barleywine. Sweet fruits, light bitterness and slight roasted malts. The yeast does give it something of a Belgian quad. However, it lacks the complexity of those. Not bad at all, but it's not the best of both worlds. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
