3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very interesting beer. Not like any other Saison I’ve had before. A lot more earthy. A very interesting tasty beer unlike anything else, but I’m sure it won’t be for every one.
cloudy yellow, small white head.
heavy malty aroma with some bretty notes, and some burned hops note. the bottle IS kinda old (few years) so this particular saison don’t seem to age that well. I would assume still fresh, it would be kinda malty tohugh. not much yeast in there.
flavor is sweet malty, faint spicy notes, faint caramel.
clean brew. no off flavors from aging that i could detect. tderoeck (10575) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 20, 2016
24/V/16 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: VII/2017 (2016-623) blackisle (2889) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - SEP 21, 2015
Clear orange beer, huge creamy yellowish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, very oxidized, honey, banana peel. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very sweet and sugary, ripe banana, caramel, malty, oxidized, honey. Aftertaste: more of the same, slightly bitter, mainly oxidized. Has not got much to do with a saison, too much residual sugars and too much fruit esters from the yeast.
Bottle 33cl. Small gusher, cloudy pale amber, large foamy off-white head, looks a bit dirty, mostly diminishing, patchy lacing; sweet malt nose, caramel, bread, yeast, earthy; taste light light heavy sweet, caramellish, malty, spicy notes; full to medium body, oily to sticky texture, average carbonation, aftertaste as in taste with light sour notes, sugary; strange Saison though not unpleasant.

The biggest gusher I’ve ever had. Literally only 2 sips left in the bottle. Thank God I opened this in the kitchen on a clear counter. Beer revealed as being totally underdeveloped, overripe fruit, rough malts. Why the hell did they bottle this. Absolutely a disgrace this is produced and untested. Draft. This beer has something beautiful from the aroma and the appearance, soft and smooth, it looses a bit in the taste but the esters and the spicy hint are nice, ending a bit dry with hops. Erasmus_ro (3235) - Alabama, USA - NOV 8, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hale orange with a fairly large, yellowish-brown head. Aroma is pale malts, fermented fruit, stuffy overripe berries, some yeasty overripe banana, yeast. A real mess. Not looking forward to having a taste. Fermented fruit and berries, messy, stuffy. Overripe banana. Wooden finish. Unpleasant. Down the drain with this sort of crap. mikske79 (1753) - Puerto Plata, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - SEP 6, 2014
Een donker bier met een goede volle smaak zoals het hoort. Een aanrader om eens te proberen kermis (14955) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2014
Bottle shared. Pours cloudy orange with an off white head. Aroma is vegetal, peas, mange tout, yes certainly the characters of a traditional saison.. Light moderate sweet and bitter flavour. Light medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Weird.
