rerate: did finally have a half pint at the John Hewitt in Belfast. it was very nice.
Bought this 500mL bottle in Northern Ireland on a trip to Belfast and enjoyed it back home in Dublin.
Pours a nice yellow straw color-light to let the light through with a tiny little white bubbly head that disappears quite quick.
Smells great, much more aroma then you would expect from a lager. Some grass and hoppy notes with a tad of citrus.
The hops is great in this lager and is the overwhelming factor. Slightly bitter with some light floral hints too-tastes great.
Finishes slightly dry with a bit of bite to the hops and a little unbalanced, but overall is nice.
I was quite impressed by this overall and quite happy-I haven’t tasted an Irish beer like this before. I’d like to see more of this around and hope that it all tastes like this! jmized (1) - Pace, Florida, USA - APR 20, 2009 does not count
My wonderful wife brought this direct from Dublin. After a night in the frig and a hard day at work I treated myself to the single 500ml bottle of Belfast Lager. I’m a simple drinker of beer, i.e. not a ’taster.’ That said, the first few swallows had a mildly bitter edge. However, that was simply palate prep for a very enjoyable beer. The 4th sip on was wonderful and exactly how the brewer must have meant it to be. Stuartyboy (1751) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - JAN 4, 2013

500ml bottle, with a big thanks to Colin. Pours a slightly hazy light gold with a large head. Aroma is sweet, touches of lemon and honey. Taste is sweet to start with lager malts. Slightly sour finish. Solid lager and a deserved 100 for style. Erzengel (9334) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - APR 25, 2014
500 ml bottle, BB Aug 2014. jamaty (2232) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 8, 2015
The beer starts quite bitter-intense, for a Premium Lager very flavourful. The mainpart is caramel, hints of grain. To the end there is a nice and intense and slightly floral bitterness, that fits ideal into the picture.
--> Very nice Premium Lager! --> 12/12/12/12
Dorada clara, limpia. Da dedos de espuma suave. Aroma muy lupulado, floral. Sabor muy especial en una lager. Muy floral, con toque citrico y bastante amarga. Sorprendente. Notable. Quiero lager así. Theydon_Bois (20438) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2012
Bottle at (parent’s) home - 25/08/12 - thanks to Steve ’beers I’ve known’.
Pours a clear pale golden colour with a thin white head. Lively carbonation evident from the appearance.
Pale malts, straw and a little honey and orange on the nose.
In the taste, sweet malts, grassy, a little wheat and grain, a pinch of citrus and a little spice culminating with a bitter crisp finish.
Medium bodied with a good level of carbonation.
Well poduced lager.
