Clear amber - brown beer, few suds for a head. Malty nose. Dry palate, zero carbonation. Rich dark malts with touches of Port Wine and Brandy. Finishes semi dry. Not subtle but defintely drinkable.

13th March 2014
Murky amber beer, small off white head. Palate is semi dry with modest carbonation. Bitter floral notes and salty aniseed. Tangy bitter dried fruits. Finishes semi dry with the bitter tang lingering on. Seems skewed and doesn’t hang together for me. 2.4

WHALE WATCH. Bottle @ THE Others Tasting. Massive thanks to Leighton for busting out this bottle. Lord knows how he chanced upon it! The pour’s deep red with a modest head. The nose is old vomit, some caramel, red berries. Salted caramel popcorn. The taste is lightly peppery wood, some red fruits, more caramel and general roasted malt flavors. Medium body, fine carbonation. Overall, not bad. The nose brings this down a bit!

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2013 Bottle at The Others Tasting, London - one of my contributions, and while I was sad to let this bottle go (it could very well be the last bottle in existence, I think) I was glad to share it with good friends. Pours clearish ruby with a faint, bubbly head. Dry fruits in the nose, some wood, dry berries. Medium sweet flavor with further dry fruit character, some alcohol, moderate esters, berries, dried out wood. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Lightly warming finish, lightly musty, with dry and somewhat leathery fruits, some cherries. Not too bad! Though not awesome, either.

Bottle at THE others tasting, thanks to Leighton for this massive rarity! It pours hazy deep amber with a small bubbly off-white head. The nose is wood, toffee, varnish, some acidity, dried apricot, raisin and some sweet vanilla. The taste is wood, alcohol, vomit, acidic, earth, some bitterness and faint astringency. Medium body, low carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Not great.

Bottle. Unclear amber beer with virtually no head. Fruity, caramel-malty aroma. Taste is sweet and alcoholic, with a lingering bitter finish. It’s like a beer with two layers, that doesn’t really match and find each other. Flat carbonation.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy amber with a tiny, rough off-white head. Odd, messy aroma, fruit, phenols and alcohol. Solid body, almost flat, fruity and phenollic with a heavy alcohol heat. Archetypical British - what a mess! 140212
