COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a 9.4% abv gold colored Belgian. We really focused on making a dry champagne like finish to this beer. The Belgian yeast character is the star in this ale with peppery aromas backed with a dried citrus fruit character. This beer drinks like it is 6% abv so be careful. The name is a nod to the great Belgian Golden Strong ale Duvel which means devil.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a crystal clear golden color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of big phenolic spice, stone fruits, yeast, bready malts. The taste is caramel and bready malts, spice, mild fruits. Medium bodied.

Clear pale yellow. Floral nose, honeyed sweetness. A very pretty beer. Weird description, but accurate.

On tap at WW. Moderately cloudy golden pour, only a medium head, looks a bit less robust than the other WW beers sampled. Moderate funk and overripe fruit in the nose, heavy and cloying in many ways. Mouthfeel a bit heavy, and there’s some heat on the tongue. Flavors do reveal some brighter and drier notes, but not quite enough to strike the appropriate balance to me. Decent but was hoping for better.

DiarmaidBHK (5362) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Draft at brewpub. Pours golden with some champagne like carbonation and a thin white head. Has a a nice Belgian yeast thing with some clove on the nose. Very smooth on the tongue which is a little dangerous since it hides its alcohol so well and they drink so quickly. Finishes with a bit of hop bite. Very solid.
