Pouring Utah desert red, this Belgian ale was dry hopped with Styrian Golding hops which give a mandarin orange aroma to the spicy Belgian yeast. Flavors of cotton candy round out a balanced bready malt character.

"Belgian Ale" certainly is a catch-all phrase, isn’t it? Can’t really describe it much better than they did: "Utah desert red," sort of a dusty orange-red with an off-white head. Nose is bready, with delicate candied sugar notes, a touch of "Belgium" hops, as my bartender described it., and Belgian yeast. Full, chewy palate. Compared to some of their flashier beers, this won’t necessarily show well in a flight or a tasting, but this proved to be a lovely beer, especially as it warmed... which didn’t really happen given that I drained my 10oz pour in the time it took to fill four growlers.

Wicked Weed does some amazing reds. This is one of my favorites, with a hint of sweetness at the end.

Draft at the source. Hazy Cardinal’s robe color. Aroma is floral and fruity. Taste has lightly dusty lemon, tropical fruit, raw bread dough. Decent.

Old Ale Alpharetta notes. Lots of fruits, citrus, spicy yeast, lots of caramel and bready malts.

Poured from tap at Wicked Weed. Reddish color with a white head. Smells of floral with that hoppy smell. Taste is the same as the smell with a sweetness on the back of your tongue.

Clean and pretty red pour. Two fingers of off white head. Nose shows spicy hops and floral notes with citrusy hops. Citrusy notes with a light floral sweetness and woody hop character. Slight ephemeral spice character.

Draft at the downstairs tasting room. Pours a clear copper color with a large tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of big caramel notes, cinnamon, earth. The taste is tart stone fruits, caramel malts and an earthy finish. Medium bodied.

Copper pour with creamy off white head and lace. Aroma is sweet rock candy and orange zest. Sweet rock candy, abv warmth, sweet start with a dry finish and a flat bitter. Medium bodied and fizzy. pretty good

Thanks to that dude for bringing me this beer! Can’t we agree on Papaya red with a dusty countenance? At any rate, nice looking beer, fluffy and earthy looking. Floral nose, with yeast and abundant fruits leading the way by far. Bready undertones and a hint of citrus. Nice full mouthfeel. Hops assert themselves a bit more as you taste it, like spike of dryness in there to give things a bit of contrast. Raw and weedy here, sweet and ripe there. Nice brew.
