COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by a Hendricks gin basil cooler, Coolcumber is made with cucumber, basil and juniper berries. Just like making a great cocktail this beer is dosed carefully with its ingredients to create a one of a kind flavor experience. Golden in color and wonderfully drinkable.

Clear golden with a large foamy white head. Stinky earthy nose that’s very soiled with a little cucumber juiciness in there, but also a touch of cheese. Flavor is thankfully better than the aroma with big crisp cucumber tones, bright Belgian pale malt and a little floral fun basil fish after the cucumber bit.

4-pack of 12 ounce bottles - $8.49 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.

Date Bottled: 07.28.16.

Appearance: Pours out a clear, yellow-hued body with an abrupt, white head.

Smell: A background of meager pale malted barley with the declared additions of cucumber, basil leaves and juniper berries, though all in all it’s a pretty toned-down, mild aroma.

Taste: A light, cereal sweet touch of barley with a small hint of crisped grain. Cubed cucumber, spicy shredded basil and some fruity, spicy juniper berry flavors, a bit more bolder than was found in the aroma. The flavors mingle and join a more pronounced pop of ground white pepper for the crispish finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-low carbonation, though still has a zing of crispness.

Overall: I’ll come clean and admit I absolutely abhor cucumbers. I loathe their scent, taste and texture (I’m ever irked by sushi joints cramming this scornful filler into their entire sushi roll line-up). However, I somehow decided to give this a ’go’, even springing for a full four-pack. Coolcumber has got a nice summery vibe that isn’t just another citrusy wheat, instead giving one a mouthful of horticulture.

Draft at Capone’s. Pours hazy gold with white head. Nose was hops, cucumber, basil, berry. Tasted hoppy and cucumbery, but in my opinion the basil was a bit strong in this. I didn’t get much juniper, but I think mint would have better served this beer than basil (rathbone).

12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits. Clear golden appearance with a white head. Aroma of cucumber, herbs, light peppery spice and a hint of pine. Similar taste, fruity, refreshing cucumber flavor with a nice balance of adjuncts. Light, crisp and easy to drink overall.

Bottle. Strong basil aroma with notes of cucumber and gin-like juniper berries. Pours clear golden colored with half a finger of white head that has good retention and a little bit of lacing. Starts with a good amount of basil flavor with a touch of floral as well. Finishes smooth and refreshing with cucumber flavors to start before the juniper berries give a slight gin-esque ending. Interesting and bright, good for a hot summer day.

12oz bottled 7/28/16. After pouring, smelling and tasting, I went to rate and read the discription. If Hendricks was the inspiration, then they really came close to the mark. Floral, herbal, bright and fresh all going on here. The juniper, basil and cucumber are all there...subtle and intertwined with a simple well done golden that carries the adjuncts along. Enjoyable and if price point was lower and in a multi pack, I would repeat.

This is definitely is the best cucumber I have ever had. Flavor is very much like Hendricks gin. Herbal cucumber sweet. If you are a gin lover, you probably will like this mellow summer sipper. Lots of similar nose. NICE!

Growler from the brewery. Smell of pine. The basil in this beer overpowers this beer. Golden yellow in color. Taste of basil, not to much cucumber. Smooth on palate. Overall this beer is drinkable

Taps wan golden with a good porcelain head. Aroma presents floral, vegetable, malty and fruity notes, quite distinctive. Flavor delivers floral, cucumber, malty, fruity and subtle woody hop tones. Mouthfeel has firm body and good fizz. Cool as a cucumber!

Maybe the best cucumber beer I’ve had but I’m not sure that is saying much. Drinkable.
