Bottle thanks to Kurt! Pours opaque black, small beige head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is rummy indeed, but well integrated with chocolate, vanilla, oak and dark sugars, giving more of a winter warmer type impression. Flavor is quite sweet, light plus bitter, dessert decadent. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Some ABV heat, but not really showing the full 16% that it packs. I am generally not a huge fan of Rum BA beers, but this one is done well. Not really any overt signs of the Brett fermentation on the final product.

Dfonorow (2250) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 6, 2017
Bottle share at DLD. Pour is deep brown with a small off-white head. Notes of dark fruit, espresso, dark malt, raisins, and slight sour mash.

chinchill (5163) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 7, 2017
22 oz bottle consumed while discussing the regrettable sale of the brewery to InBev. Very subtle Brett influence adding complexity. Plenty of rum barrel influence. Quite sweet: not over the top for me but a bit so for some colleagues.

wombat23 (1621) - Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2017
Shared 500ml bottle, purchased November 2016 at the Funkatorium. Pours almost black with a tan head. Aroma of rum and chocolate. Taste is rum, booze, chocolate, loads of brown sugar. I’m not a fan of rum, really boozy beers, or super-sweet beers. And this beer had one of the most cloying, boozy finishes I’ve rated thus far. Did not detect any Brett. Very disappointing. Did not finish.

darbeer75 (929) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2017
Aroma: rich and chocolatey with a little soy sauce; Appearance: pitch black with light tan head that lingers; Taste: a bit raw; should have let it age; overly sweet with boozy finish; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: shouldn’t really judge such a young bottle, but definitely a disappointment.

Tap at funkatorium. Pours opaque black. Aroma is rum, oak, chocolate, earthy notes, and faint licorice. Flavor is super sweet caramel and vanilla notes with soft chocolate, oak, and a dry, spicy rum finish. Medium/full body.

Draft at the Funkatorium. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Tastes like sweet dark fruits, sour plums, raisin, and candied malt. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like raisins, sour plums, sweet dark fruits, and candied malt.

4.4
Dogbrick (13389) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Sample at the Funkatorium. Pitch black pour with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, rum, dark fruit and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, rum raisin, anise and chocolate. The finish is oaky rum, dark fruit and malt. Very good all around.
