Pitch black in color, light tan head... Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon barrel... Flavor is fairly coffee forward, lots of espresso bean notes, great barrel character... excellent coffee stout

Sampler from Choice City in Fort Collins, while having a monster sandwich ... (and after a Pliny the Elder!). Thanks H! Yum! Solid barrel. Light sour component. Caramel. Chocolate. Light roast. Nicely balanced. 14.6 tightslice (1532) - Redwood City, California, USA - JUN 1, 2017
Bottle from Hometown Spirits in Flowery Branch, GA. Aroma is espresso, tiramisu, vanilla, boozy fudge cake. Taste is rich coffee served with coffee fudge dessert with a touch of bourbon. Pre-AB-InBev purchase BTW. patnichols (10) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 19, 2017

Bottle. Dark chestnut body with a quarter inch of beige head. Aromas of burnt malts, coffee, buttered brown bread. Medium bodied. Mild sweetness tempered by roast and coffee flavors. Tasty.

Pours nearly black with a vocal thickly foamed tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla. Maybe a hint of bourbon. Sweet and lovely. Jam-packed full of flavor. Starts with dark malt coffee roast and finishes with an evaporating bourbon booze. In between lies vanilla and a touch of chocolate. Aftertaste is not unlike that of bourbon with echoes of coffee and vanilla. This is a beautiful beer, but a touch boozy and quite pricey.

Very dark brown/black head with mocha head. Smells of mild roasted coffee, dark chocolate, the perfect amount of bourbon, tobacco, molasses, mild vanilla, toffee, mild caramel. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, bourbon-soaked dark fruit, toffee, mild brown sugar notes. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. Not as thick as other barrel-aged stouts, but still a joy to drink. The 10.3% ABV does start to come out as it warms. A very good example of what barreling can bring to a stout. The intricacies of the stout comes out in the front half of the play, with roasted bitterness dominating the back end and aftertaste.

Opaque black with a medium tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon barrel. italianjohn (3335) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 29, 2017
Black pour with barely any off white head and very light lacing .... aroma of coffee, vanilla, cocoa, roasted malts, earthy, light molasses, light licorice, dark fruity yeast and bourbon ..... taste is of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, licorice, earthy, vanilla, some molasses, dark fruity yeast and bourbon .... oak is more in the flavor, dry finish with lingering bourbon, cocoa and vanilla along with roasted coffee and licorice bite .... body is thinner and I thought .... mouthfeel is lightly slick and oily .... abv hidden pretty well .... great sipping brew hopdog (13315) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 28, 2017
