COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Freak is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8.4% abv and who knows how many ibus, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of all the big West Coast hops give this beer its citrusy weedy nose and big dank hop flavor. Drinking this beer is like stuffing your face into a bag of fresh hops while eating a tangerine. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch or over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In following with the classic style of the West Coast double sugar plays a big part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter we welcome you to the Freak Show.

Very happy to try a small growler of this at Beer Study. Clean sharp yellow pour with one finger of white head. Super resinous and oily nose, theres a mild onion/garlic component with lots of citrus. Super hoppy and resinous, pretty awesome.

Pours a two finger white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Pine hop nose and flavor is balanced with piney hops and malt, lingering hoppy aftertaste, higher ABV, 8.5%, is hidden. Decent DIPA. $6.95 for a 500ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. Bottled Feb 2017.

Bottle from Sams in Durham. Perfect appearance, brilliant golden with a lacy, thick white head. Aroma is nice and citrusy, hopped to all hell. Loads of tangerine as well as grapefruit, dank, and mango. Sweet sugary malt base, a big citrus hop blast, nicely balanced. Medium plus body, resinous, nice carbonation level. Really solid.

Bottle - the appearance is s clear pale golden copper with a thick off white head. An enticing aroma with plenty of citrus hops, pith and a hint of grassiness and sweet malt. Its got a decent malt body to help balance the layered hop bouquet. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Very nice.
