Hoppy Pale Ale

Napoleon Complex is a small-statured pale ale with a larger-than-life attitude. Ignoring the industry standard of diminutive hop presence and mild manner, this pale ale will have most IPA’s contemplating their inadequacy. Little beer, big flavor, even bigger ego.

Growler that I bought for TURDFERGSON, which he then generously shared with me. Nose of lovely citrusy hops; some resin and skunk as well. Just mad freshness. Taste is slightly thin, as expected, but still full of flavor. Extra points for clocking in under 5%. I could (and hopefully will) drink a lot of this.

oobawa (1856) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 10, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2018 Hop-forward pale ale, but lacking much character beyond the moderately citric and piney hops. Very session IPA-ish, in fact, giving up a smidgen of a malt base, instead offering up strong veins of grapefruit and resin. Finishes dry and a bit seltzer-ish, with a mild hop bitterness that fades into nothingness. Drinkable, but instantly forgettable.

Looks like I'm going to be the 100th rater of this beer. I hope this is an auspicious sign. Misty, medium gold, one finger white foam in a clear Solo cup, New Year's Eve, 2017. Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Nice hoppy aroma, citrusy and slightly candied, also a little resinous. Meh, tastes like session IPA. A bit dry, seems like they tried to wring out a little too much out of the hops. Baby aspirin notes in the finish. Lightish body, loses carbonation. Likely to be my last rating for 2017. Might be my last rating period if this snow doesn't let up and I slide off Beech Mountain trying to get back to LuckyDog's cabin. God forbid.

Good flowery hops smell but mild...taste is same...some flowery hops and the background is watery...mouthfeel is very very light and thin...a very drinkable summer kind of beer but with some hop punch...some bitterness on the finish but not too bad...good drinkable beer...had at Dano's for lunch

Can (Sep 8, 2017 canning). Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, white, fully lasting. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (lemon oil, herbs, grass). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Plain and simple, but balanced and clean. Drinkable but forgettable.

12 oz. canned 10/19/2017. Mostly clear golden with some nice legs and a sticky cobweb of foam. Honey, lemon grass, biscuit and grapefruit in the nose. Flavor is the same mix with some pine resin in the finish. Light-medium body has a tad much carbonation. Easy drinking balance with a dry finish.

12 can from brother in N.C. a bit lighter than most other wicked weed ipa’s. Lemony with resin hops in the background. Not a bad ipa.
