Draft from downstairs taproom. Pours a clear chestnut with a small white head. Nose of oak and vanilla with grapey vinous notes. Taste adds brown sugar and a nice kick of the wine barrel. I cant say I love most American quads but the barrel aging makes this one interesting.

10 oz. draft at Tip Tap Room, Boston. Appearance is a deep ruby / brown color and white head. Smell the prunes, alcohol-saturated cherry, rock candy, Belgian sugar, molasses, and brown sugar.

Taste is raisins, dates, plums, molasses, and sweet malts. Positive item: mouthfeel is good with no visible alcohol. Negative flaw is the amount of sugar that resides in the finish. It is well made but doesnt make me say "Oh My God". Perhaps a little age would help?

On tap at the Funkatorium (but may have been brewery): copper pour, white head. aroma of belgian spiced aroma, sweet. tastes are dark fruit, woody, sugary, caramel, background booze.

Bottle from Salud. Hazy dark brown color, please see pic. Aroma of boozy cherry fruitcake. Taste is boozy cherry whiskey brownies. Tasty but boozy. Reminds me of an old fashioned.

Cloudy copper pour, big beige head. Aroma is full of dark fruit, plums, figs and such. Yeast malts, with some oak, and slightly tart cherries. The subtly tart cherries are quite the nice compliment to the already dark fruits and yeasty malts. Gets quite boozy as it warms, and the cherries actually take over as it warms also.

Bottle from Wicked Weed - Pours dark amber, white head - Im getting the cherries, but there is a thinness to this one that I wouldnt expect in a quad. That said, its very drinkable.

Fruity up front. Molasses and malt forward otherwise. A little thin. Some gritty earthiness to the drink. Ok.

Bottle from Wicked Weed. Pours golden with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Get some wood and tart cherries on the nose. A little rough on the tongue. I was hoping the cherries would be bigger. Fairly boozy at 13%. Not bad.

Pours deep amber into a Trappist glass. Tan head with little retention recedes to pool surface. Sweet caramel and cherry aromas. Thick with dark cherry pits and skin upfront turning to dry toffee before the lasting warming cherry finish.

2016.12.27-375ml bottle from Bruisin Ales, bottled 11/10/16, in tulip glass Aroma-About as youd expect from a quad with cherries, cherries obvious but subdued (6/10) Appearance- a sort of chestnut brown that becomes a pretty translucent tan under light, not as opaque as youd assume. Nice vigorous carbonation, forms nice ring around edges, lacing is slick and not sticky. (4/5) Taste-Nice, seems a bit closer to a raisin-y barley wine than a quad. Cherries are pretty well done, obvious but not overpowering. (6/10) Palate-a bit thin for a quad, a little boozy, carbonation seems pretty on point. (3/5) Overall-Enjoyable, but not really reminiscent of a recent favorite Sierra Nevada Ovila Quad with Cherries which is both more malt-y and more prominent / tart with cherries. Possibly close to Ommegang Three Philosophers though I havent had that for a while. (13/20)

bottle, from Bottle Revolution RDU. bottled 11/10/16. good aroma, sweet. fruity, oaky. big sweet malts a quad will give you, with moderate cherry side, oak shows up as it warms. hazed brownish orange color, good head and lace. heavy sweet flavor. full body, creamy thick mouthfeel, sweet, astringent finish. like the way the cherry mixes with the usual sweetness of a quad. nice cherry on aroma. oak is cutting in on the finish. drinking damn easy for the 13.4 on the label.
