COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawing inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemen’s Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, this collaboration beer brings together two breweries from opposite ends of the country and ingredients from the home states of both breweries. Using an Old Ale recipe as the base beer, Gentlemen’s Club was brewed with cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to mirror the qualities typically found in an Old Fashioned cocktail. The beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, each offering a slightly different take on the same age-old recipe.

Reddish Brown in color, hazy with a thin head. This was a big beer with very light touches of oak. I was hoping for more. Light other spices this beer just did not hit the mark. Way too spendy. Too many flavors to combine.

Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - SEP 20, 2013
On tap at City Beer, SF. Hazy red shade. Aroma offers a hint of fruit and vanilla. Sticky, sugary red fruit taste. There’s a hint of oak present but it’s not an overt or overpowering factor by any means. Quite tasty.

On tap, the third in the series, pours a pretty cloudy red/orange, thin head but laces well. Mild but pleasant nose, alcohol, malts, wood notes. taste is very pleasant, a bit sweet, oaky, mild malts, alcohol. finishes a bit wet.

marcus (10232) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 13, 2013
Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark amber with a modest beige head and a fruit and vanilla aroma. There is a full-bodied dark malt and cherry flavor with a slightly sour oaky finish.

Pours an amber color with thin head. This beer is just confusing to me. The flavors don’t mix at all in my opinion. There are fruits, wood, oak, bitterness, and heat that all seem to be doing a rumble royal in my mouth. I feel the same about the other 2.

rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - SEP 1, 2013
Bottle from Total Wine. Amber pour with a small white head. Woody, fruity aroma with earth and spice. Citrusy, woody, spice and boozy flavor. Meh.

Shared at the ba bottle share. Pours amber. Big oak nose, taste is big pulpy wood, light citrus finish is dry. Solid body.

Floback (550) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle from Total Wine. Pours amber with reddish hues and a small tan head. Well-apparent caramel, subtle plum, toffee, and wood on the nose. Swashing lace on my snifter. The flavor has loads of astringent alcohol notes, grains, subtle fruits like banana, cranberry, more barrel, Booze, booze, and more booze. BOOZE! Medium/high carbonation and full body. Definitely a brew to save for the end of the night. Don’t try this before dinner like I did! I can feel myyy sensesss dulliii..*^*!&@

jbruner (4747) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle shared thanks to rbrazell! Pours a translucent golden brown with thin ring of off-white head that doesn’t really lace. Aroma is sweet vanilla, light earthiness, spice. Taste falls flat of the other two, but all the notes are still there. Least favorite.
