COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawing inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemen’s Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, this collaboration beer brings together two breweries from opposite ends of the country and ingredients from the home states of both breweries. Using an Old Ale recipe as the base beer, Gentlemen’s Club was brewed with cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to mirror the qualities typically found in an Old Fashioned cocktail. The beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, each offering a slightly different take on the same age-old recipe.

On draft at World of Beer. Color was slightly amber with minimal head. Aroma was slight liquor and malt. Taste is the same with with slight whiskey and strong malt. My favorite of the three.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at O’Brien’s. Pours cloudy tawny with a small, frothy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is booze, cherries and apples, cracker malt and light earthy hops. Flavor is vanilla, booze, fruity esters, cracker malt, medium hops and bitterness, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at Bailey’s - pours hazy amber with an off-white head. The aroma has lots of malty toffee, brown sugar, bourbon, caramel, mild orange and some vanilla. It has a fairly full body, but is rough and grainy with a light amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with dry heavy toasted malt, wood, paper, cardboard, orange / lemon zest and brown sugar. The finish has heavy alcohol and oxidation.

Pour is a murky light copper color with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose is heavy caramel malt, a bit of metallic phenol, moderate wood, boozier whiskey, some banana esters and a little sweeter. Flavor is similar, extremely sweet and messy malts of caramel and a touch of metal. Notes of toffee, banana, green apple skin. Really sweet, the barrel is underlying and not really adding. Full bodied, fairly chewy, soft carb.

Caramel brown pour. Aroma is caramel with a mild barrel character. Taste is same as the above. Nice body. Overall, lovely beer here - love the caramel toffee character and the way the barrel is in play but not overly dominant.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear ruby color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and dark wood with an alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer met my expectations.

22 oz. bottle shared with the group. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, rye whiskey, more woody, vanilla, cherry, some citrus, boozy, all the flavors didn’t really play well together early, but this started to improve for me as it warmed as more of the flavors come out, still a bit sweet.

shigadeyo (3739) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 14, 2015
Malty aroma with a healthy does on vanilla, malt syrup, and some alcohol. Red orange color with a thin off-white crown. Vanilla maltiness, light rye bread crust, average level of herbal/earthy hops and candied orange peel; alcohol venting through the nose along with sugary rye whiskey in the finish. Medium to medium full body, smooth. Okay, far from great. Nothing special. +1 for the cool label.

Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Light malty, sweet, fruit, rye and wood aromas. Rye, whiskey, oak and mild sweetness and liquor tones.
