COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The deep, dark, mysterious Americana Noir is so good, it could have come from the mind of Raymond Chandler. Chocolate and Black Malts provide a roasted coffee flavor, whilst Crystal and Munich malts lurk in the shadows to add toffee notes and a touch of midnight wheat provide seductive creaminess. Columbia hops provide a spicy, lemon ray of sunshine through a crack in the blinds.

This was a draft pour at the Portland brewpub during the RBSG. In the glass it appeared to be a very dark red bordering on black with a beige head. Good lacing rings. Nose of dark roasted malts showing both chocolate and coffee. Medium plus in body with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is nicely balanced between the chocolaty/coffee and floral hops. Dry bitter finish.

On tap @ Widmer. Black pour with a khaki head. Pretty roasty and heavy on the coffee. A little bit of dark fruit, cocoa powder. nd perhaps some raisin acidity. Flavor is a touch bitter. Kind of watery on the tongue. Big time roast, hints of ash, and coffee grounds. Just okay.
