The Columbia Hop was near extinction when we brought it back to create this crisp, easy drinking common ale. With a rich amber hue, Columbia Common, the new Spring Seasonal Release for 2013, has a Mild grassy and spicy hop notes are complemented by a fruity character and clean finish brought on by the use of hefeweizen and lager yeasts and unique malt bill. It’s the perfect beer for Spring. Prost!

Smooth texture, mild hop flavor. Medium amber pour with a thin white head. Good mix of malts and hops - this one may be one of the better "session beers" I’ve had.

Toasted pecan nose. Clear deep amber, thin head. Nutty and dry, with a mild grassy finish. Ok.

Crisp light amber coloured body with a bright copper glow and a nice one centimetre tall white head. Aroma of grassy and herbal hops, some light malt, a hint of caramel and a nice hit of yeast. Light-bodied; Sharp grassy and herbal hops with a good malt backbone, some light sugars and a little nutty finish - perhaps from the malt. Aftertaste shows a very light hoppiness with some grass and a less pungent flavour than Anchor Steam and a more refined palate for sure. Overall, a decent beer, and good for the style - simple to drink for the Spring and a welcome addition. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Arlington (Lee Highway), Virginia on 12-March-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 15-March-2013.

Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is bready malt. Taste is bread, caramel. Creamy and smooth...very solid, likeable beer.

Amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is slightly skunky. Once that smell fades there are notes of corn, caramel and must. Taste is malt, light woody hops.

Bottle. The look is copper colored, off white head, and has a clear look. The smell is malt, meaty, caramel, and hops. The taste is sweet, hops, odd bitterness, and ok.

Another great spring ale. Pours amber. Grainy mild hoppy grass and floral nose. Flavors of lemons and grains. Has a dry and refreshing finish. Nothing outstanding, but clean.

emacgee (4704) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Pours a dirty looking soft amber with one finger of creamy off white head. The aroma is very malt driven with sweet dextrinous bready notes. Lightly spicy hop notes show as well. Muddled malt flavors show through in the flavor. Lots of body, super malty finish.

Appearance is a little weak, little head and almost no lacing, despite a rough pour. Color is copper/tan and clear. Aroma is toasted, caramel, bready, nutty, with a little bit of hops. Flavor has a nice maltiness, bready and nutty, some caramel, a little citrus and some light hops. Carbonation is pretty mild and body is fairly light with a slightly slick finish. Pretty tasty, not fantastic but once you get past the lack of a head it’s not a bad beer.

Clear amber with an off-white head. Light bready and grassy aroma. Malty taste. Easy drinking, nothing fancy, but certainly not bad.
