On Tap At Widmer Brothers brewery/pub in Portland OR. pours out a nice rich brown topped with a tan head. A little bit of sweet of caramel. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - NOV 24, 2004
bottle, a year or two old, i forget. reddish brown colour, some cocoa, fish sauce and caramel in the aroma. still a big hit of alcohol, not that much bitterness, some stone fruits, passable TimE (6005) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JAN 12, 2004
A sweet chocolaty buttery nose. SMOOTH buttery toffee palate leading into the warming toffee finish, excellent! hayduke (5607) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 13, 2006
On tap at the Widmer Gasthaus, Portland brewhouse. Poured a dark chocolate brown, with a good tan head. Coffee and chocolate Great palate, almost like oil. This was by far my favorite, and wish is was available in bottles in my hometown. A real winner. duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 10, 2004
Bottle. OK, obvious ale yeast. Toffee, apple, soy, caramel, bit sticky, with some noticeable alcohol. Not a favoured style, but it was OK.

Almost no aroma to this. deep ruby color. Flavor is rich with fruits and hops. A citrus ester was in deep in the flavor but jumped out at me in the end. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 9, 2006
tap at the Widmer brew pub... dark ruby color with brown head. presence of alcohol, malt and sweetness maybe from chocolate. very complex but very drinkable. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - FEB 3, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a copper brown color with a big off-white beige head. has a caramel aroma. The beer produces a great malt syrup bolus. The sweetness is then smoothed out by at great bitter hop palate. This has a phenomenal mouth feel. The best beer poured here. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - MAR 20, 2005
On tap at the tap house. Pours deep cherry red with a fast falling white head. Sweet malt aroma with chocolate and caramel. The first taste I noticed was some cocoa up front followed with a rich caramel body, some nice weight on the palate showed the thicker body of this beer. Very well balanced but fairly mild doppelbock. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2006
This was not bad. Brown with some ruby highlights, and a nice creamy head and some sticky lacing. A little bit of herbaly sweetness right up front followed by some stick chocolate and caramel. Strong oily mouthfeel, not bad, not my favorite, but still well made.
