Dark ruby brown with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is of apple, pear, malt, light booze and cardboard. Taste is of malt, caramel, molasses and cardboard. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Bottle: Dark amber pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, lightly malty with some nuts. Tastes sweet with dark fruits and light yeast. A faint bit of banana bread. Belgian spices too. Fun little brew is different, but good.

Bottle: Pours a dark brownish amber with a creamy finger of beige head. Aroma is mild, but malty and dark fruit sweetness. Tastes sweet with dark pitted fruits, raisons, brown sugar, and a little nutty. Different, but good.
pours a clear dark brown with a red tint when held to the light, a very small beige head, and great lacing.
smell of malt, a touch of spice, and a little caramel.
taste is creamy, malt, some caramel, a touch of spice, some cocoa, and hops in the back, end is a little dry and somewhat bitter. drjay44 (3712) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUL 31, 2009
22 oz. bottle. Pours a thin smear of an off white head, with some lacing, over a clear, dark amber (SRM 23) body....nose is dried fruit, including the usual cherry, fig, also some caramel and yeasty tones.....taste initially is sharp, then evolves into more balanced malts with dried fruit and toffee, finish is quite astringent....mouth feel is medium to light, carbonation is low. The malt back bone cannot hide the alcohol in this beer. Additionally, even though the malt is present, it give almost no depth to the taste. I believe a bigger malt bill might help mitigate, but then there is the yeast. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUL 28, 2009
Murky brown with a crimson tinge; thinnish head. Chewy, rich and full. Heavy malt flavors, with hints of sweet baked goods, caramel apples, honey and toast. Complementing hops are earthy and flowery, leaving behind an herbal bitterness on the tongue. Faint fruitiness in the background. Flavorful and pleasant beer to drink, yet not bursting with personality.

22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear brown color with a 1/2 finger thick light tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted caramel malt and dark esters. Flavor is almost burnt crystal malt. Aftertaste is astringent and somewhat bitter. Medium body. Not a favorite of mine. kenb (1102) - Oregon, USA - JUL 18, 2009
22 oz bomber. Pours a dark brown. Taste is nuts, toasted grains, caramel, raisins. ABV is too apparent. A bit thin in the body.
A double albier huh? Ok i guess, but not really my thing.

Bottle pours a cloudy redish-brown with batley a skin of a tan head. Dissipating quickly. Sweet malt aroma with sour slant as well. Brown sugar, concord grapes and apple butter. Flavor is woody and a bit sweet with a bitter edge. Aggressively hopped...yes, but not much in the way of flavor. Lingering bitterness is woody and astringent.
Disappointing. kidmartinek (4999) - austin, Texas, USA - JUL 12, 2009
Dark brown beer with a surprisingly disapointing puny head. We carbonation. Nectar, nut, sugar, and alcohol aromas. Busy mouthfeel with no one flavor dominating. Heavy malts and heavy hops, so its heavy all around, but well balanced. A strong, but oxymoronic mild beer. The most poigniant thing about it is the alcoholic nose and aftertaste. raphael (1254) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 6, 2009
pretty red brown with quick off white head. dry and astringent in the mouth. I smell alcohol, corn, mild hops, ash, taste sour cherry, pine, dark caramel, and alcohol. a dry and likghtly7 chemical finish. very warming, much more malt flavor than a malt liquor, but a thinner underpinning than an american strong, due to the lager-ish yeast. some nice parts, but doesn’t all fit together.
