Bottle. Dark amber/copper in color with a medium-size light tan head. A nice looking beer. Aroma has sweet malt and an interesting, slightly ashy roastiness, along with light noble hops. Flavor is spicy, fruity malt with a little bit of roast throughout. The roasted malt and alcohol combine on the back of the tongue to form a rather unpleasant dry and vegetal flavor, along with an astringent aftertaste that’s not good at all. I don’t have any experience with alts, but I can imagine that they aren’t the best style to be doubled or made imperial. In short, basically, the alcohol is far too exposed in this beer and mates poorly with the roast notes. SudsMcDuff (8468) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2009

Bomber bottle. Pours a dark ruby with a small paperthin light beige head that diminiishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a toasty malt with vegetable notes. The taste is a spicy fruit malt with a lingering alcohol in the finish. A lot of roast throughout with the alcohol taste coming out too much in this one making it hard to drink. Aroma: Sweet malt aroma with big hops and strong alcohol aromas.
Appearance: Dark Reddish Brown in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Big malt flavor this also had the fruitiness and added alcohol flavors. Big beer flavors this beer will age well.
Palate: Dry Sweet fruity finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: 25 years this was a great beer. Had this on tap this pours so well. Thanks Rob and Kurt here to 25 more. Very sweet this will mellow over the years.
Pours copper and clear with a medium lived beige head. Smell is slightly toasty malt. Taste is toasty, fruity malt, alcohol and lots of metallic flavor. Leaves a lingering alcohol flavor. Medium body with soft carbonation. Yet another imperialized or double beer that simply ends up being twice as bad as the original. Not that well done, and not enjoyable.
