Compared to a DIPA, this really does seem crisp and drinkable. The wood-aging seems a bit unnecessary, but perhaps it helped to take the edge of this brew. It’s like a pils on steroids, which leans more towards citrus flavors rather than grass or spruce. Decent malt backbone with some toast and bread.
Bottled. Poured lighter golden with a sticky white head. The aroma picked up sweet oranges and honey with accents of fresh oak and bright citrus zest.. very nice. The flavor found bitter orange zest throughout, with pale and biscuity malts supporting.. increasingly peppery and oaky, especially on the back-end.. tasty stuff. Medium-bodied with high-ish, prickly carbonation.. almost buttery across the middle, with decent transitions to the bitter and spicy stuff around.. enjoyed it! strongpieman (1651) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - SEP 6, 2014

Tap at Iron horse. Hazy pale yellow color, medium white head. Very boozy. Good body. shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - AUG 23, 2014
Bottle. Wood, hay, orange malt and quinine aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange caramel malt and moderately bitter pine/orange peel flavor. Not bad. Patrickctenchi (6804) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUL 22, 2014
Clear, dark brass-gold with a tall, light tan head.
Orange/pineapple aroma...fresh wood.
Taste is caramel, citrus, oak...
Strong citrus/resiny bitter....a little alcohol bittering as well.

Tap at Mason Lounge. Filtered looking orange-tan. White, off-white head. This is my kind of beer. Expertly lagered, but also has the massive orange citrus bite on top of the tasty golden malt. The oak adds another layer of depth, really making this a solid beer. Cool, piny, refreshing mouthfeel. Good stuff. CpyNPrnT (637) - Indiana, USA - MAY 1, 2014
Aroma of citrus, wheat, and wood. Taste is woody, citrus, bready. Alcohol is present. Head diminishes within 5 minutes, a very weird off yellow color. b3shine (9253) - Indiana, USA - APR 19, 2014
Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent gold with foamy eggshell head. Smells of citrus hops and oak with a bit of sweetness. Tastes like it smes with an average mouthfeel. A solid example of the style. User134089 (1644) - - APR 6, 2014

Poured a caramel, orange, murky color with two fingers of frothy white head. Some bubbles coming up from the bottom. Minimal lacing along the sides of the glass. Below average retention from the bottom.
Smelled a pleasant mix on the nose. Got citrus hops first, followed by pine, soap, lime and some floral hops, immediately followed by oak, vanilla and Jack Daniels. Very boozy, but probably matches nine percent ABV.
Tasted similar to the nose, which was all over the place. Got citrus hops, soapy pine, then dominated by boozy oak. Also bourbon, vanilla and bitter nickel.
Light body. Oily texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, boozy finish.
A really good attempt but I thought it could have been better overall.

Poured clear deep copper with a thin, foamy head. Aroma is bread and pine. Taste is lemon rind and grass, with a well-rounded finish. Interesting blend of styles.
