Five different hop varieties and the dry-hopping technique provide Halo with a tremendous amount of hop aroma and hop flavor. Spice, red fruit, citrus, and grapefruit aromas dominate this angelic hophead holiday treat. Munich malt and two different types of Caramel malt contribute viscosity and a smooth sweetness that softens the hop bitterness and ultimately puts this holiday warmer in harmonic balance.

from old notes: an average double IPA at best. Does nothing wrong but nothing to wow either, and this is a very crowded style.

juicy and hoppy. powerful and sweet with pollen of flower. some malt in the finish for balance yet unbalanced. a little bit of caustic action going on. good good brew.

This is pretty good! Pours with a small to medium sized, off white head and some lace. Color is a clear medium amber. Aroma is a mild blend of hop, caramel, malt, plus a hint of spice. Flavor is like nose but the flavors are much more intense, plus a little gaminess. Body is good and a bit chewy, with good carbonation. Finish is like flavor and of medium length.

12 oz bottle. I am becoming a fan of Widmer Bros. This pours a great amber rich color with a nice frothy head. Lingers and laces nicely. Nose is spice and flowers. Makes the mouth water. Flavor is really good. Punch of hops with the bitter finish. Can taste the malt, but this beer is tons of hops. Very nice IPA. Cheers.

Really rich, sweet ale that has a solid hop backbone. The smooth caramel, toffee and toast are balanced with piney, floral hops. No residual sweetness, clean, dry, with slightly apple esters from the yeast, has a medium to full body and a lingering bitter finish.

On tap at Papago in Phoenix, 11-12-07. Light yellow in color; huge head sticks around; pretty hazy. Aroma is of typical hops, nothing special. Taste is okay; bitterness comes through first which is unusual for an IPA or double IPA. Little else struck me; mediocre. Ill look elsewhere next time.

on tap @ papago...pours a yellowy amber with a white head. aromas of grapefruit skins and piney hops with a touch of sweetness. medium bodied with a surprisingly creamy mouth feel. flavor is the same as aroma. medium bittered hops, citrus and light sweetness. finishes dry with lingering pine hops and floral notes. nicely hoppy without the sugar...

On tap @ Fish City Grill, Austin. Light amber color with small amount of off-white head. My experience was that it was an explosion of hops up front, but not a lot of range within the composition, and the flavor faded quickly--short finish. Tasty, but seemed somewhat one dimensional.

Bottle. A fine looking looking beer, nicely laced and fine white head. Very little aroma. Very hoppy with a finish that lasted forever. It didnt seem strong enough for a double IPA and lacked the large aroma. A middling IPA worth drinking if you come across it.

Tried this at their brewery and found this IPA to be very good. One of the better pale ales I have had.
