2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap. It has a nice aroma, but nothing really stands out in the flavor except for a lemony bite and some coriander. It just doesnt have the spices that make German Hefes so much better than the microbrew counterparts.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2005 Poured a cloudy orange with a thin head. Very plain hefe and virtually aroma free. Not much finish. Watery. Maybe light banana and light yeast. Unimpressive.

I just recently took a liking to Hefeweizens. I've always been a fan of citrusy beers, so i don't know what took me so long. This one was pretty good, but not the best i've tasted. Although, i couldn't even tell you what the best one i had was... all i know is it was on tap (it could have even been Widmer Bros., maybe the tap version was just much better).

Citrusy wheat and dusty yeast combine in an astringent imbroglio...A strange back bitterness for the style raises an eyebrow...Unchallenging and not quite pleasant enough to be a session weizen...

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy light golden color with a large off white head. Heavy yeast and wheat aromas, with undertones of light citrus and mild spice. Seems to lack a real malt backbone. I would have to call this an american hefe. Better than most american wheats, but not up to par with the german hefes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smooth and fruity. A cloudy golden color. A very wheat-like aroma. A foamy white head. Not bad at all. A refreshing wheat beer with lunch.

There is not much to complain about this Hefe. Upon setting up to review this, I was pretty skeptical. That's probably due to the fact I had lost faith in the American Hefe....see Pyramid...blech!
This pours a very cloudy yellow/orange tequila sunrise look. Smells of lemons, wheat...I found the taste suprisingly chewy, with a nice body despite the style. Citrus and just a pinch of banana that does not hinder. Less-than stellar mouthfeel, but I cannot argue how refreshing the brew is on a whole . This is not as spicy as say a German, but this malty-wheat brew is a winner. Do not compare this to Pyramid, it's not even in the same league...not even in the same sport! To quote Pulp Fiction if I may.

Cornflakes anyone? Very mild flavor with a citrusy nose. Cloudy yellow appearance with a quickly diminishing head. Actually a nice beer.

Not bad, but that really that great. Would hardly know its a Hefe if it didn't say it on the bottle. Has good taste, and a nice aroma.... just not enough of it. If they made it more potent, could have great potential.

Yellowish, cloudy color. Not much head. Thin bodied. Slight hint of what a hefe should taste like are in there, but you really have to be looking for them. Won't take one of these home again.
