bartlebier (4089) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 18, 2016
12oz sampled from BH as Hefe (arrived fresh bottled JUL2015, ach those trade routes). - Bref: does for Hefe what Blue Moon did for Wit. A wheat ale by any other name still wouldn’t be a Weizen. Cascades saving the show over white bready wheat, spent lemon drops, dusty fruitloop-loco where the actual Hefe won’t go. Very thin bodied, stone fruit peel wheat radler. Hm. File under: US Craft does not do mature German styles any justice - update that NW Widmer-SW Kirchzarten connection. Hard to taste where this once was a pioneer beer of the movement.

330mL bottle from Booze Bud. BB?AUG1815 Hazy pale gold beer, small sparce white head. Mild aroma - grainy cereal malts, touch of cooked apple & apricot fruit esters(?). Medium bodied, carbonation somewhat subdued for style. Grainy wheaty malts on the body, touch of ripe pear & apricot fruits, slight spiciness, subdued bitterness to finish. Daresay it’s a bit past its best.

Look; hazy golden body, off white head. Aroma; bread, lemon, spices, marcipan, grass. Taste; bread, hops, grainy lemon, bready malts. Finishes in bread and hops. Palate; good body, dry sides, normal carbonation. Overall; tasty, banana free. 33cl btl.

Big white head doesn’t last. Hazy opaque pale yellow body. Fruity mealy dusty aroma. Dryish mealy dusty taste with fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish mealy dusty aftertaste with faint fruity notes. Well. American wheat ale is usually not great, but this was below the already dismal average. Unfresh. (0.355l bottle, from wine monopoly, Lillehammer.)

Popoff91 (124) - Oregon, USA - APR 19, 2016
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2016 12-ounce bottles in a pint glass. Typical great aroma and large head found in wheat beers, unfortunately less flavor than some others as well. Not bad for the price; enjoyable, just not as good as some of Widmer’s other offerings.

On 33 cl bottle. Hazy golden color, with sediments and ok foam. Medium aroma intensity; fruitiness, light banana and citrus. Medium/light body & complexity. Good bitterness and balance. Enjoyable

Cloudy golden appearance with little head. Tastes of apple, caramel, grass, herbs and peppery bubblegum. Medium body, fine carbonation, and a finish of caramelly apples. Quite refreshing and tasteful.

Bottle. Nothing exciting about this beer. I was hoping to have a new favorite Hefeweizen in my local bar to drink. I would compare this to coors light. Not a lot there. Mild grain aroma. Medium grainy taste. A hint of fruit aroma. Kinda disappointed on this one.

Gulbrun klar med to fingre høyt hvit skum som fort blir borte. Lukter lett karamell, hvete og noe grapefrukt. Lett. Hvete, maltekstrakt, honning og karamell. Kort
