COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This long-time favorite brewers’ choice beer was created to hop us challenge expectations and keep us true. We now expose it to you. Using roasted barley, chocolate malt, and Midnight Wheat (tm), KGB has a color that is as dark as a torrid past, a body as full as a well kept dossier, and a taste a complex as a conspiracy theory.

Rich color with roasted aroma and flavor. Notes of coffee. Finishes very smooth. Amazing.

Pours dark black with faint redness around the edges and a three-finger tannish head. Smells roasty, chocolaty, malted and lightly bitter. Tastes like sweet malted barley in the front end, sweet chocolate in the middle, and bitter chocolate and alcohol in the back end. Full-bodied with a creamy texture and pretty much no mouth-carbonation, Widmer Brothers KGB Russian Imperial Stout finishes with a bitterness that fades to sweetness with the passage of time.

Best beer Widmer brews. I used to get six packs of this stuff pretty regularly. Aroma is sweet and heavy of malts and brewers yeast. Appearance is of standard affair. Very sweet taste with minimal carbonation, alcohol is hidden well and the finish is pleasant.

Huge beer. Nice and heavy with excellent roast. This is truly imperial.

I missed out on the 2011 version, but it’s back now in 2013. Good, but not as strong as I would have hoped for. Still, 9.25% alcohol, but it tastes sweeter.

Only at the brewery - this is a beer hunter’s delight. Wonderfull dark, rich and a shot of alcohol. This is truly meant for those damp and cold northwest winters - this would warm the Grinch.

Big and dark. Maintains a beautiful head through out pint, with nice lacing. Alcoholic aroma, with roasty notes. Nice balance from start to finish. Found only at the brewery, and 2 small accounts around the Portland area

Eclipse black color. Small head. Aroma is chocolate and cherries. A full bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and cherries. Hops are slightly spicy and bitter. Nicely balanced. Very smooth, nearly oily. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. There is a malt roastyness that appears after a while and lasts a long time.

Lots of roasted coffee notes. Good head retention. Kind of thin. All the taste of an imperal stout, and some hop characteristics, but not overpowering like I was expecting. Great beer, just slightly thin.
