3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light brown creamy head on top of a near black beer. It has a malty, sugary aroma. The flavor is more sweet than bitter with the hop flavor emerging slightly. The body is lighter than expected and is somewhat fizzy.
2013 22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate, some dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same with a pretty nice blend. Smoother texture. Held up nicely after a couple years. maekchu (4001) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 19, 2016
Bottle. Fruity nose, with chocolate, berries, and light fumes. Medium dark brown color. Chocolate, berries, and a thin bitterness in mid and final. Thin-medium body. Nice nose. Tasty....but not really an imperial stout. Lacking in the full-featured flavors and body. KyotoLefty (10531) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 19, 2016
Bottle. Black with laced. Nose of cocoa, berries, soy sauce. Flavor is similar, with a bit of coffee and cola, soy, berries, chocolate. A simple RIS that isn’t bad but not the real thing. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 10, 2015
descent enough dark tan head with good lacing... the brew is black with subtle ruby near the stem.
Nose is pretty standard RIS aromas albeit light and not very "rich" .... good dark malts and pretty pronounced coffee notes... not alot of dark fruits, but what are there show as minor plum.
Flavor is dark malts with the same coffee element... I swear I get some brewers licorice.. a little metallic.. sorta copper...
Body is light compared to the Big Boys, but certainly within style. Tonkun (1296) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 31, 2015
Tap. Dark pour with a mocha head. Ash, coffee, toast. Medium body that hides the alcohol well. Bitter finish. Not bad not great

Decent imperial stout but nothing that was extra-ordinary. Seems like their regular stout with a little more alcohol. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAY 8, 2015
Bottle: Nearly black with some dark brown hues at the edges. Topped with a half-inch khaki head that shows decent retention. Some modest, chunky lacing. Aroma is straightforward & simple. Heavily roasted malts, light ashy char, cocoa powder, maybe some faint anise. Flavor is kind of stripped down & painfully average. Deeply roasted malts, char, burnt cocoa nibs, moderately woodsy finish. Kind of boring. Thin, slightly oily with a wet mouth feel. Not bad, but nothing special, either. Somewhat run of the mill. jgb9348 (6397) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 20, 2014
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of anise, roasted malt, alcohol, pit fruits and some deep raisins and bourbon - nice, but not too pungent. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malts going on with a touch of coffee, a little earthiness, a lot of pit fruits and some light bourbon and spice. Aftertaste shows more of the same with a little extra sweetness, no complexity and a touch of bourbon with extra alcohol warmth - not too nice. Overall, a decent imperial stout, if that, with no complexity, no depth, no body and not very nice flavours. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 02-November-2013 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington just over a year later on 20-December-2014. slowrunner77 (12471) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 2, 2014
"W ’11 - i’m glad someone else seems to get some cherry in this beer...i thought i was imagining things. chocolate, cherries and roasted malt nose and similar flavor. a very decadent beer. widmer stepped it up with this one. velvety feel. good cold or warmer. slight bitter hops come out in the finish. a cheaper better alternative to many impy stouts." chinchill (5175) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2014
