very good for a stout has a taste similar to guiness extra stout bottle poured in glass dark.notes of coffee chocolate and hints of fruit and spices!! hayduke (5600) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 13, 2006
On tap at the Widmer Gasthaus, Portland brewhouse. This is a very rich brew but seemed be too much chocolate and had a somewhat bitter taste. I had this at the same time as KGB and Collaborator, and after these two great brews this seems a little lacking, but it was still pretty good. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2006
This is really nothing after having the KGB, but this is still a nice tasty little stout. LIke KGB light, has some nice roasted coffee flavors some chocolate, almost has a fruitcake taste at times, finishes a little astrigent and dry, but still pretty tasty. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2006
(Draught, Widmer Gasthaus) Pours a black body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with a dry finish. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - DEC 4, 2005
On tap at the winter ale fest. This wasn’t really my thing, just a big ol bitter stout. I thought that this just lacked some malt flavors up front, kinda just a black coffee taste and bitter bakers chocolate, but didn’t really have much of that flavor, just kinda tasted like the flavors were washed out. It’s funny how they went from their almost painfully sweet milk stout last year to this bitter stout this year, wish they had found a compromise.

An awesome beer that was developed by Widmer for the Festival. A great flavor of cascade hops along with Sweet roasted coffee and dark chocolate aromas. Great fruity esters this was a great beer and my favorite at the festival. Thank you Widmer a lump of Coal is my new favorite Stout. Santa’s not drinkin’ milk this season.
