sweet grapefruit literally candied with a light rye character just about leaves the flavor cold. foamy berry fruit accompanying flavor with mild sharpness that is quite fleeting. robforbes (2243) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - NOV 3, 2012
pours a clear amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly.
smell is of citrus, a touch of caramel, hops, and some floral.
taste is of hops, rye, caramel, pine, citrus, and malt in the back. ends bitter. troopie (2341) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Bottle. Dark red pour. Billed as an IPA but different. Aroma is citrusy and rusky. Flavour has some IPA notes, but the rye comes through. Hop in the finish but not really IPA hoppy. An interesting beer from a brewery that seems willing to take chances. thetmaxx (917) - West Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Poured from bottle, in the variety pack. Aroma is great, nice hops. The flavor is really great on this, nice rye spice and flavor. Balanced bitterness rounds this one out well. Cybercat (5835) - Georgia, USA - DEC 9, 2011
Pours a luscious clear dark amber with a thick, fine-bubbled, light golden-tan head that sticks around for a while. Rich aroma is malty and rather hoppy with an evergreen note. Strongly hoppy flavor has a decided bitter evergreen undertone and hints of malt and honey. Smooth texture has above-average body and quite a strong tingle, leaving behind a nice hoppy and fizzy finish.

Draft. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate rye & citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick tingly texture and soft carbonation. Moderate toasted bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

This was on tap at the Widmer Brewhaus in Portland. It came in the glass a clear dark amber with a small white head and light lacing. Nose of citrus, ripe fruit, and the advertised rye. Smooth and clean mouthfeel. Flavor is of caramel malts, citrus, and spices. Dry and bitter finish. Good stuff.
