The bartender called this O'Caseys Irish Stout, and it is not actually a Widmer recipe, but is part of the Collaborator series of recipies from the Oregon Brewers Guild, a homebrew association. They hold regular contests, and the winners have batches of their brew made on Widmers premises, and put on a few local taps, including the Horsebrass Pub, and New Old Lompoc. Anyway, this was on nitro, so had a creamy long lasting head atop a black body, with a nice dry stout bitterness, a tad sweeter than Guinness. Actually quite good.

Nitro at Widmer... Poured almost black with amber highlights and thick, light brown head. Malty aroma. Nice roasted coffee notes with dark chocolates and creamy texture. (RBSG04) (nitro) Beige creamy head atop red-black body. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, roasty, coffee. Taste is medium sweet, roasty, chococoffee. Thin and creamy palate.

On tap at the widmer brewery. Pours a dark red/brown, almost black with a tan head that stays forever leaving thick lacing on the glass. Roasty coffee aroma with a faint hop profile behind it. I guess you could say that this is a textbook Irish stout, but one which doesn’t go over the top. Dry roasty mocha and chocolate, creamy and dry, coffee. A little bit thin though, still OK.

Dark ruby black with tan head & some sticky lacing. The aroma is very dry & lightly roasted. Mouthfeel is creamy & sweet (bland) - nitro. The flavor has a snatch of roast but is creamy & mild.
Good thick head that provided nice lacing all the way down. Very full bodied for a dry stout, hearty. However, the taste was somewhat lacking. Overall a good beer, much better than Guinness.
