Amber with tan head. Sweet nutty malt aroma with some vanilla. Nice caramel malt flavor with some nuttiness. Slight hop finish. CanIHave4Beers (4184) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - SEP 15, 2011
Pours a very clear orange color with a small head and a tiny bit of lace. The aroma is faint and has a bit of dead leaves, toasty malt, and hop fruitiness. The flavor is malty but a little metallic & soapy up front. Some toasty malt and herbal hop bitterness show through. This one brings Widmer back down off that pedestal they had been on this summer with x-114 & the Citra Blonde. Although somehow I feel more comfortable with them down here. Nice malty octoberfest. Not much else to say... Average but this isn’t to say that average is bad. jeremytoni (3058) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - SEP 14, 2011
From a bottle poured a straw color with a small amount of head. Light malty flavor with a quick finish. brokensail (16436) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 13, 2011
A: The pour is a dark copper color with a tall white head that sticks to the glass a bit.
S: Smells mostly just of toasted malts. There is a lot of bread to it, maybe some earthy hop notes. A touch of vanilla to go with the mild sweetness. Just a little bit of yeast.
T: The flavor is just sort of bland. Bread and toasted malt with a moderate level of sweetness. A bit of yeast flavor, perhaps some earthy hop flavors as well. A very subtle fruitiness on the back end.
M: Medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation.
O: I thought this actually smelled pretty nice, but the flavor was not all that enjoyable.

12 oz bottle from widmer sampler pack. Earthy aromas. Thick off white head that laces the glass. Nothing stands out in the taste. It is mildly malty. Decent amber but not one of my favorite styles. heemer77 (5355) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Bottle. Nicely copper colored body with a very thin light khaki head. The nose is fruity with apples and a little bit of hay. There is a pleasing caramel candy note. The taste is ok with a little bit of hay and peanuts. There is also some slight orange peel hint, but it is mild. A caramel back end. Decent and middle of the road, certainly not offensive. One-third pint, gravicask at USA Cask Ale Bar, GBBF’11. Amber-dark brown to look at, dotted spots at the glass. Rather inviting smell of dark sweet malts. Dried fruits mixed with sweet caramel in flavour, notes of butter. Malty endnotes. OK, if not a bit unusual for an Octoberfest bier (London, 04.08.2011). bpreo (2832) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - SEP 8, 2011
Kind of a bland/standard beer scent to it. This concerns me. The taste is nothing to brag about, but the aftertaste is quite delicious. cjl6 (57) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 8, 2011
What the hell is this? This is nothing like a fest beer, or anything oktoberfest at all. Did they invent this? It’s just a roasty malty amber. I don’t think this has anything to do with late September festivals. It’s sort of like if you’re expecting to sip milk and you drink orange juice, I thought it was bad only because it was nothing like an oktoberfest. Not a bad beer itself but what the heck?
