Bottle 65 cl. Vintage 2013, "Featuring X-431 Hops" - whatever that is. Pours amber with a slight haze and an off-white head. Oxidized biscuity malts in the nose and a honeyish touch. what kind of candy is this, brandy candy, pineapple, brown sugar—another candidate for eau de fruit cake. Flavor is similar but not as intense—alcohol, pineapple, caramel. A little thin in the mouth. Lightly hazed amber with a decent light beige covering.
Nose is sticky toffee pudding, dates, sweet notes, light nutty vibes, brown sugar.
Taste comprises toffee, trace of booze, spice, toffee, dates, figs, toasted brown sugars.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.

Glowing amber, very low carbonation. Fruity nose, smooth, vinous, dry palate. Not as sticky as most, but not as suitable for pairing with cheese or other food.

Bottle shared with esp0r & edvard at The "Esp0r #2000 Weekend in The Woods" 2014. Dark orange body with a small white head. Aroma of sherry, apricot, grain. Taste is lightly sweet with caramel, earthy hops, tart fruit, malty and slightly boozy finish, warm lasting pleasant apricot and sweet thick finish. Batch from 2012. Aromas of dried fruit, caramel, toast, slight booze. Slightly hazy ruby-brown with a mostly fading beige head. Bottle. Pours a deep hazy orange-amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is caramel, nougat, nuts, vanilla, deep malty tones, hints of red berries, toffee and bread. Taste is vanilla, booze, caramel, burnt sugar and hints of rum, white sugar and bread. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty nice American barley wine with no great surprises. Fra flaske på Mandag i annen, Cardinal okt-14: kveldens siste, og en solid avslutning. Humlen som er brukt skal visstnok hete X-431. (?) Mørk gylden med storboblet kortvarig skum. Appelsin, rosin, alkohol og litt humle gjør (sammen med en lett syrlighet) Old Embalmer til en lett konsumerbar barley wine. Good beer in good company.
