3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 7-18-12. 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a thick fluffy off white head. Lighter in color than most barley wines. Smells malty, grassy, and floral. Tastes like crystal malts, grassy, and boozy. Body is moderate for style and the boozy finish burns for far too long. Not sweet enough for my tastes and not very complicated. There are better barley wines out there.
Like Barley Wines. This is a very good one. Lies heavy. Foggy appearance. Few small bubbles that are slow to rise because of thickness of brew. Light Carmel color nice Carmel-porter mix of taste. Last sooo long on the tongue and in the mouth. Only need to drink every ounce in a while. Smooth and high alcohol.

Sweet barleywine. Could use some hop flavour. On tap at the Griffon Gastropub, Transit. A sipper that needs much food accompaniment. Palme (4816) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 22, 2017
0.65l waxed bottle. Quite a cloudy looking one this. Really cloudy, deep orange or even amber in color. A good looking off-white head - really good for the genre. Like the aroma. Loaded with red berries. Red currant and lingonberries. Toffee sweetness, lots of malty caramel. Malt drops and red apple sweetness. Smells really nice and inviting. Tastes nice also, but it’s surprisingly thin analyst light bodied for a 10 percenter. Lots of red berries here, toffee and red apples. Shocking lightdrinkable. Almost a little refreshing. Little alco warmth in the aftertaste. 14.04.2017 Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 21, 2017
Sample from 2012 bottle during Blarney Wine Festival 2017 on 03/18/2017. The beer is a hazy dark copper-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that burns away steadily to a film. Stringy lacing. Aroma of malt, wood and citrus. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oak, ripe fruit and a bit of grapefruity hops. The finish is boozy with a citrus and malt aftertaste. Above average overall. BrettTaylor (784) - Radford, Virginia, USA - MAR 14, 2017
2013 vintage, poured into snifter from bottle. Pours an orange-gold color, somewhat hazy, almost no head whatsoever. Some caramel and pine/citrus hop notes on nose, taste is a bit more bitter with less citrus, a touch syrupy on tongue.

Bottle, 2013 vintage (from Boxbeers). Pours amber with whiteish head. Aroma is sweet, caramelly, mashy, fruity. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, fruits, malt, mash, citrus. Finish is sweet and bitter with some alcohol. Overall: good, but bit neutered (it is Widmer Brother’s beer) and underfermented. dnstone (3485) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - FEB 22, 2017
Copper with a slight haze and a white head. Malt forward aroma with earthy notes. Well balanced, mellowed earthy malty...lightly sweet.
