2010 vintage on draft served in a tulip. Deep red color, light head. Good lacing. Malty sweet alcohol aroma with a hint of florals. Smooth, full body. Assertive malt flavor with alcohol and a nice trailing hop finish. Flavors intensify as the beer warms. Wonderful barley wine Austinista (11) - Austin, Texas, USA - JAN 12, 2013

Quite good. Strong barley wine flavor. No alcohol heat. And not boozy, which is a welcome change in this style.

On tap at Widmer in Portland, OR. Nose has all of the maltiness, but only a bit of the floral hops. The hops show up in a bitter finish, but quickly disappear in the aftertaste. This beer is sweet all over, with notes of brown sugar, and the alcohol is masked pretty well. All told, a pretty standard Barley Wine offering. I het a sweet malty cranberry aroma from this hazy reddish brown brew with an off white head. The taste is very sweet with almost a brown sugary flavor and the of alcohol at the end. Suprisingly no burn with this 10.2. Very smooth. The after taste is fruity. This is a full bodied brew with good carb and worth a buy. For a barley wine it is exactly what i would expect. Pretty delicious

Old Embalmer ’12, bottled 7/19/12. I’m tellin’ you, this Total Wine carries some old sh*t. I just bought it last week. But for once, an old beer on the shelf is a good thing. This has aged gracefully and is unbelievably smooth. This goes down devilishly delicious, without a high-alcohol burn, instead drinking like a finessed nightcap. Old Embalmer 2012, opened 4/25/2016. Much tastier than I expected it to be. A very nice take on the American Barleywine. Not too sweet at all, mouthfeel was medium. Even after sitting in the bottle for four years, it was still on the hoppy side. I would definitely have this again. beerplace (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 1, 2016
650ml bottle bought at Bainbridge Liquorstore, bottled on July 18, 2012. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, tropical fruits, citrusy (orange). Taste is sweet, citrusy, slightly boozy. Hoppy bitterness piney, boozy aftertaste. Incredible that hops is still in the taste after 4 years! Very good. hman43 (1588) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - MAY 9, 2015
It pours a dark amber with a white head that produces a fair amount of lacing. It has aromas of dried fruits, plums, caramel, and bread malts. The initial flavors are a heavy plum flavor. There are also elements of vanilla, sweet dried fruits, and a not so bitter effect on the palate. There is a bit of higher than normal carbonation. j.hi (17) - - JUN 22, 2017
Like Barley Wines. This is a very good one. Lies heavy. Foggy appearance. Few small bubbles that are slow to rise because of thickness of brew. Light Carmel color nice Carmel-porter mix of taste. Last sooo long on the tongue and in the mouth. Only need to drink every ounce in a while. Smooth and high alcohol.
