Caramel medium brown, light molassesy aroma, sweetish character and molasses, with a dash of toasted malt.

On tap at Widmer, pours a clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly weak, with stale toasted malt. Flavour is really weak and watery, with some stale malt dominating. Bland and lifeless porter. Very weak. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - AUG 7, 2014
On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. 1996 Big Ben Porter. See-through dark brown color. Aroma is smokey malt, molasses, and a touch of black cherry. Taste is roasted, smoked malt at the start, then molasses, dark chocolate, and that cherry hint come into play. Licorice flavor happens in the aftertaste. Sampled at the Brew’s Best Beer Fest on my trip to Vegas, back in 2011. Pours a real dark brown colour. Beautiful coffee bitter smell with super roasted grains. Wet mouthfeel. Again, beautiful coffee and roasted malts taste. A real nice coffee porter. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 12, 2010
[2945-20100625] Sample. Old smoky coffee and house coat aroma with a little old dust. Clear, dark amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Dusty dry roasted toast flavour with bread crust notes. Medium body. Fine, odd dustiness.

2010-06-25. Dark brown body, small beige head. 3+ Mild aroma, light roast, mocha. 6+ Flavour is similar, modest roast, mocha, sweet base malt. Smooth average body is a touch light for my preferences. Decent, unassertive porter. On Tap at Widmer Gasthaus, Portland.
