COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited Release #4. Spring 2011. Ale brew with huskless malt and Belgian candy sugar. Galaxy Hopped Barleywine is a new take on an old favorite. This beer pours a dark crimson, almost mahogany color. The yeast & galaxy hops deliver a big bang of red and yellow fruit aromatics like banana, pineapple, cherry, and strawberry. The experience begins with a taste of toffee and darkened sweet caramel overlaid on subtle tones of vanilla. All to be punctuated by the floral and citrus dry hop character.

Pours a clear dark golden/amber color. Aroma is of malts, lactic, toffee, leafy hops, and a little nuttyness. Flavor is of malts, some chocolate, caramel, hops, and a little lactic. Leaves a malty caramel finish. Just a little too carbonated for my liking.

Christmas tasting at the Kernel. Can’t remember who brought this because I was a bit trollied - but Cheers. Took awhile to catch up with this one. Hazy amber beer, little off white head. Light dry palate. Creamy caramel malt , sweetish. Lovely Galaxy hops. Sweet piney tropical fruits with pineapple and mango. Very nice!

On tap at Int’l Great Beer Festival. Aroma of bread, fruit, standard for a BW. The appearance is deep amber, white head. The flavor is like the aroma, very sweet, The finish is sweet, with resiny hops. Medium/thick in body, oily mouthfeel. Good.

12/2/11. 22oz bottle courtesy stevencon! Perfumey aroma of flowers, hops, brown sugar, a slight touch of dark fruits. Sweet entry of brown sugar, dark fruits, and flowers at first, but it transitions to bitterness and a bit of papery cardboard. Not bad, actually, but I don’t love it.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2011 Big fruits and malty caramel on the nose followed by toffee and piney hops. Appearance is a massive dark shade of brown with a small foam head. Taste is a thick malty caramel with a pleasant leafy hop bitterness on the finish. Its a nice sweet, crisp full-flavored beer. There is a subtle hint of fruitiness in the background. Overall, this beer is full of well balanced flavors. With a pleasantly thick taste on the palate followed by a refreshing hop bitterness. I’d give this an A+ rating.
