22 oz. bottle from Total Wine - Pours a clear deep mahogany color with a 3/4 finger thick light tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, esters, and light spice. Flavor is much of the same. The hops and esters linger in the finish. Medium to full body. A very nice BW. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2011

Massive thanks to Lisa for being such a legend and bringing this back for us. Hell, she’s just a legend all round. Deep dark amber colour with a well behaved off white head. Cheesy barley nose with plenty of prickly booze showing through and some good preserve fruit and candied sugar. A bit of nostril horn if ever I’ve known it. The flavour isn’t quite as good as the sugar comes to the front a little too much. However, the candy floss hit it provides is certainly fun. There’s a slight lick of card that does it no favours but if you dig deeper, everything that was enjoyable about the aroma is clear. It’s just a little over the top to be really special. Too fruity and sugary. Whatever. Hop of the moment in a barley wine? I should fuckin coco. Cheers Lisa.
(22 oz. bottle (stamped "03/14/11") from Damon’s) Pours dark ruby-brown amber with a small biege-like head. Aroma of fruity candy-sugar with underlying scents of chocolate and pine. Mouthfeel smooth, sticky. Light dabs of lacing and a light syrupy film. Tastes of candied fruit, sweet but not overly. Light chocolate sneaks into toward finish. Bitter snap in finish and bitter aftertaste. Mellow and warming. Small ABV apparency. Tasty but not too complex. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 15, 2011
22oz bottle: pours a clear deep mahogany with a spotty-lacing froth of off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty caramel malty nose with some fresh piny hoppiness and a touch of light fruits. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet caramel maltiness with nice balance of hoppy bitterness before a drier bittersweet finish that hides the alcohol well. A pretty true to style and enjoyable American-style barley wine. smith4498 (3676) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - NOV 24, 2011

On tap at Toronado. Pours hazy dark brown with tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, toffee, dark malts, and some citrus hops. Flavors of toffee, dark fruits, caramel, citrus hops. Finishes with nice bitterness. Thought this was going to be an over the top bitter BW, but I thought it had a nice amount of balance. Solid. Bottle. Dark amber, thick tan head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of flowers > grass > pine. Taste has chocolate and coffee notes on top of the usual caramel. Very creative for a barleywine. cooplander (543) - Florida, USA - FEB 13, 2012

Appearance Amber, clean, creamy lacing
Aroma - Cherries, banana, yeast
Taste - Bitter, dry, toffee, citrus, hops
This barley wine reminded me of a double IPA. Nice and hoppy with malty, rich fruity tones. The finish was bitter and warm - not too complex but just enough to hit the spot.
Bottle thanks to Mikey. A great fruity hop nose. The flavor toffee, fruity hops, citrus, honey, this is a big sweet beer with a solid hop profile. Great beer.
