Clear red - brown beer with a good pale tan head. Smooth palate, dry. Smooth malt, trace of caramel. Belgian like Coca Cola flavour. Traces of marmite and raisin. Dry finish, with a little spice.

Bottle pour at Rocket City Brewfest. Dark brown with a thick, creamy head. Strong aroma of earth, old wood, coffee, caramel. Rich flavor - sweet, with hints of rum, molasses, caramel, coffee and some spices. Very full feel in the mouth with a lot of effervescence. Slight bitter aftertaste. Great beer.

For an American strong ale, it sure was an easy drinker. It smelled plenty of rum with some tropical notes and molasses. Molasses wasn’t as strong in the flavor, and complimented the cherry and sweet malt flavors nicely. Finished with hints of graham cracker, oak and more rum. Thanks for sharing this one, OmegaX.

Hmmm....Bottle from Total Wine. Aroma is light molasses, coffee, dates, and light rum. Alcohol. Pour is dark brown, not much for a head. Flavor is similar. Very heavy molasses. Not much rum. Not the best, not the worst.

Sampled on 11/3/2012. This American Strong Ale pours a dark brown color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is caramel, molasses, brown sugar, rum and wood. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, brown sugar and molasses. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice wood and rum flavors throughout. Great sipping beer. The rum flavor is especially nice at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Fantastic beer. Doesn’t taste the 9.5% ABV and being that it is brewed with palm sugar and molasses I was an initial fan. Reminiscent of rum...yum!

Pours a deep brown sugar color with a thin head. Nose is molasses and a hint of roast. Very sweet tasting beer, finish is sugary and long. Okay, but I won’t have a second.
