Fantastic beer. Doesn’t taste the 9.5% ABV and being that it is brewed with palm sugar and molasses I was an initial fan. Reminiscent of rum...yum! drostj (113) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Bottle pour at Rocket City Brewfest. Dark brown with a thick, creamy head. Strong aroma of earth, old wood, coffee, caramel. Rich flavor - sweet, with hints of rum, molasses, caramel, coffee and some spices. Very full feel in the mouth with a lot of effervescence. Slight bitter aftertaste. Great beer. Complicated, rich. Dark coffee color, pleasant bitters; subtle sweet undertones. Light fizziness. Beautiful. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 3, 2013

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy copper with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong rum, caramel, molasses. Medium mouth, very sweet, caramel, rum, really enjoyed this. Hayes3285 (5) - New York, USA - AUG 17, 2012 does not count
Beautiful smelling and Beautifully tasting beer from Widmer Brothers. The taste was the weakest point for me, but it goes down smooth and easy. A great beer from their reserve, you can slightly smell it was aged in the rum barrels as advertised. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 9, 2012
A - Pours a cloudy brownish-red with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts, toasted coconut, brown and residual sugars, oak, vanilla, molasses, with a touch of dark fruit and booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of rich sweet caramel malts, brown sugar, toasted coconut, and vanilla. Through the middle, some oak and rum comes through with some more residual sugars, molasses, and a hint of dark fruit. The finish is a mix of sweet caramelized malts, brown sugar, toasted coconut, oak, vanilla, rum, and a bit of booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice imperial brown ale with some great balance and complexity from the rum barrel aging. DuffMan (10549) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 26, 2013
Bottle. Auburn, with a cream coloured head that retains well. Aroma is very malty, breadcrusts and milk chocolate stand out. Sweet malty palate, chocolate, brown bread, caramelized sugar, aniseed, vanilla. Doppelbockish in its malt complexity. Loved it! unclemike (3160) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Pours pretty dark brown with a 1/4 inch beige head. Lots of rum and treacle in the aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is massively treacle with rum and some citrus and arguably pear. It burns slightly. I’m thinking this massively flavorful ale will age well. Brilliant concoction.
